    VF1000R test side

That bike deserves a huge -- WOW! Fantastic job! :fing02:
  2. Oh - ok, very cool When you get going be sure post up a good photo build thread.
  3. I think Sebspeed has a super duper excel chart on that stuff. I got a copy but I cant find it for the moment. That would be a good place to start.
  4. Wow - I cant think of a sporty type bike I have had, when in the first day of ownership, I didnt razor off the stock grips, and throw on Pro Grip 699s. (Cruisers are different animal. ...)
  5. I have really been interested in the outcome of this project...
  6. Nine days. It was a bad idea, because on Sunday evening I crashed and came down with a terrible virus. I think I was holding up until the job was done. I keep poking my head into the garage and wanting to tidy up in there but I basically haven't slept much in the last 48 hours. The upshot was that I was awake (4am) to watch the Indy GP! Well kudos to you anyhoo, great job! You blow me away.... Now we need a contest on renaming this thread...

    All done?

Kaldek, all done? Chances are --- ---- not! lol
  8. Ideas --- - Dunno if I can help direct, but if I get into a spot like that, I usually go look at an exploded view of the assembly to make sure some stupid engineer didnt put a circlip in a spot you least expect. - There are some more aggresive penetrants on the market vs WD40 --- Kroil (super stuff) -- comes to mind, try that way. - Chain saws, hand granades - sry couldnt resist. Good luck on this one ----------------------------------------------------------- "Anyway I've given up for the evening as I have an early start tomorrow at - of all places Honda motorcycles head office Austria. Is there some irony in there?" (kaldek) Um, I'm trying not to laugh ---- (Maybe Soichiro is watching.)
  9. Keep watching! I've got the new bike set up on chasiss stands and have only one bolt left before I drop the motor out of it. It's game time. Pics! Pics! lol
  10. Dude your funny - every mod turns into a reality show saga....
  11. Thanks for the great how to......
  12. Wow - the dyno graphs show a huge engineered "hole" in the power band. I'm sure that's a combination of regulations imposed (emissions, sound, etc.) and the political view of possible litigation from the marketing people. Same thing happened with the VTEC on the 6th gen. It must suck to the be the engineer on the project and get the marching orders from on high. The reaction from the engineers must be "I gotta do what?" knowing its gonna screw up the bikes power and still have to work around it. If I had a 7th gen - I would be all over this Bazzaz product - he's one of the best.
  13. What's the classic saying? -- "There's a fine line between genius and insanity." Kudos to you and Kaldek , Kostritzer too --- - impressive
  14. I'm a Corbin guy and no complaints. Ive done 12 hour days on one. I have nothing against Sargents, just havent tryed one and I'm stuborn that if I like something I stick with it. --- I'm running a zero gravity dubble bubble windshield that I like alot and have the y2k mirrors. The thing on the stocker condom mirrors is that the rubbers wouldnt stay in place and drove me crazy. (pics in gallery) -I've heard seat mods by Spencer are very good and priced reasonable. - Is Hebron across the river from Cincy?
  15. Sry - didnt mean to be the turd in the punch bowl, just throwing out some stuff to think about.
  16. I thought that the ideal oil temp was in the 185 to 215 degree F range and that if you are lower than that you could be asking for flow and lubrication issues. Dunno if I would go to a 5 row cooler on viffers unless I had an oil temp gauge at the oil filter inlet - thats where it runs the oil to the bearings. I would want to keep an eye on things.
  17. Havent tried them but $62.99 for grips? R U nutz? Try the ProGrip 699 or 719 for under 10 dollars. (I use the 699s )Both are very good. Add in a throttle rocker for another 10 bucks and you should be good to go. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/68/4489/ITEM/Pro-Grip-699-Open-End-Sportbike-Gel-Grip.aspx?WT.ac=SLIsearch http://throttlerocker.com/
  18. ---- The tail of my VFR gets crazy hot to the point of making the seat warm. I currently have a stock R/R in the thing. On my MOTY install, I ended up packing the thing in the battery box with some foam cut up from a knee pad, so its kinda like insulated from the all the heat going on. Dunno if it matters, but so far so good. (Admittedly my riding is limited this year, I have a messed up rotator cuff that gonna take damn near the rest of the year to heal up and riding is painful. F**k! ) ------ MOTY is just one guy like Joshua (Tightwad) of wiremybike fame. So far Brian Harris seems like a stand up guy.
  19. I'm assuming you have the stock mirrors nicknamed around here as the "condom" mirrors. And most people like me replace with the 2000-2001 OEM mirror which are way better looking. Check #23 and # 25 from this list. http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/1/Make/Honda/YearID/42/Year/2001/ModelID/7427/Model/VFR800FI/GroupID/325186/Group/UPPER_COWL Btw Ronayers is a good place to check out parts

    Stunning! :fing02:
  21. Careful on that one, with the fan diabled and a tailwind ( happened to me in vegas) you get a zero airflow condition. Is there room on the second radiator to run a fan blowing opposite the first? Then therenis always airflow over a radiator under any condition... I dont remember how much room is in there, ,its been a while since i unwrapped the plastics off it. I'm sure there is no room on the right side radiator for an extra fan, if there was there are at least 50 of us geek fooles who would have tried to fit one. - I think on the 5th gen, if you are in hot climates, going to a 3 row oil cooler from the stocker 2 row is a good idea and would help. Veefer800Canuck has done it. - I was once in Arizona on a fly n ride and we were in the high plains with a strong tailwind. It was totally bizarre running at about 120 and feeling a wind like 40 mph in the face. Very eerie.....
