  1. That brings back memories to me. My grandfather left the Navy after WWII and served the Army in civil service at Ft. Leavenworth. It was always a very big deal when we went to see him on-base. We had to dress in our go-to-church clothes because we would always dine at the officers club. All the information from the DEW Line came through Ft. Leavenworth at one point in time. During the early years of the Viet Nam war much of the satellite communication from the theatre to North America downlinked to Ft. Leavenworth. Although better known for the disciplinary barracks, Ft. Leavenworth is home to the Command and Staff College.

I've been to both, you have good tastes. I believe Miguel stopped at the Hays Brewing Co. the last time he crossed Kansas. He gave it high marks also. Huskysooner put me on to the Burger Stand. He's our local foodie. I wonder if you had the Duck fries or the Truffle fries? The Burger Stand is awesome. For local beer Topeka has the Blind Tiger, Lawrence has Free State Brewery and Manhattan has Tallgrass Brewing Company... You would not go wrong with any of them. I would almost guarantee that you passed within 500 feet of my house. Should you have to make that trip again in the future drop a line beforehand. If schedules work out I like to ride with people for a hundred miles or so before turning back home. If you're interested I can show you a couple of sights worth seeing without going too far out of your way.

Be careful, you're going to wear the paint out.
  15. I often wonder how shots like this are captured..... but the shadow tells the story in this case. Cool photo.
  16. Another reason to move away from the suction mount to the tach face ...... When I did that the force of the suction cup actually caused my tach face to crack ever so slightly. After that, the suction cup would not stay attached for more than a couple of minutes at a time. I'm dreading the day when water eventually finds its way inside the tach. I've "wicked" super glue into the crack with a toothpick as best as I could, I hope that keeps it sealed from the elements.
  17. Great minds..... .... think alike. But as you can see, I ultimately ended up mounting the thing right to my windscreen. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/52833-stock-screen-gps-mount/
  18. According to the link supplied by Dae, Rain-Off are 100% waterproof, welded seam over gloves to be used in the rain. It is not a sprayed on chemical.
