Guest norths03 Posted July 19, 2013 Thanks! I just rode it 1,000 miles from the Missouri Tennessee border to Denver in under 30 hours. I think I'm going to like it a lot after I make the necessary upgrades (seat, throttle lock, windscreen, etc.). Quote Link to comment
Guest norths03 Posted July 20, 2013 Last time I was through there I found a great burger bar in Topeka, I think it was called The Burger Stand. The other end of Kansas offers a great brewery in Hays, Lb. Brewing Co. Definitely worth a stop anytime passing through. Quote Link to comment
Lee 2002 217 Posted July 20, 2013 I've been to both, you have good tastes. I believe Miguel stopped at the Hays Brewing Co. the last time he crossed Kansas. He gave it high marks also. Huskysooner put me on to the Burger Stand. He's our local foodie. I wonder if you had the Duck fries or the Truffle fries? The Burger Stand is awesome. For local beer Topeka has the Blind Tiger, Lawrence has Free State Brewery and Manhattan has Tallgrass Brewing Company... You would not go wrong with any of them. I would almost guarantee that you passed within 500 feet of my house. Should you have to make that trip again in the future drop a line beforehand. If schedules work out I like to ride with people for a hundred miles or so before turning back home. If you're interested I can show you a couple of sights worth seeing without going too far out of your way. Quote Link to comment
Member Contributer huskysooner 6 Posted July 20, 2013 There's also a Burger Stand (the original one) in Lawrence, but they're pretty much equivalent, as far as I can tell.Lee's a good tour guide. Quote Link to comment
Guest norths03 Posted July 21, 2013 I went with the truffle fries although the server recommended both. The chicken fried chicken at the brewery in Hays is excellent as well. Will do on dropping a line next time I'm through that way. Need to do some long distance upgrades to the bike before I head back across to the Dragon. Trying to find the blue hard bags not from the stealership. Not an easy task as I'm finding out. Also going to pickup a corbin/sargent seat, a larger windscreen, Possibly adjustable foot pegs (I'm 6'1"), etc. I'm getting my Michelin Pilot Road 3's installed Tuesday along with all fluids flushed and then I'll be headed to the mountains to see what she can really do.
