  1. To add to JZH's comments, if you mean the Interceptor script on the sides of the upper cowl this could be the part you seek: EMBLEM (TYPE1) (INTERCEPTOR) 86641-MJM-A00ZA happy hunting
  2. I've ridden Monitor Pass on California's Hwy 89 many times, usually eastbound. Here side-by-side video from my 2003 and 2014 trips, on my '98 VTR1000F and '09 VFR800. The timing was close but I tweaked the clips to better synch them. The early trip used an analog camera recording to a Canon Hi8mm camcorder, while the latter one used a V.I.O. POV.HD setup. Eagle eyed viewers will note the pass looked a lot drier in April 2014 than in July 2003. Click the link: Monitor Pass - In Stereo!
  3. As the owner of a 6th gen I can say that high mount exhaust is heavier and moves the cg upwards - neither being a change for the better. But if it's purely a styling preference I think Sweeper's suggestion of researching the compatibility of swapping in 6th gen tail is worth pursuing. Keep in mind that the panniers are also different.
  4. Your clip reminded me of an old video of my '92 VFR: '92 VFR750F with Supertrapp muffler
  5. Lovely looking VFR and in an uncommon colour. And your pdf looks like a magazine article - well done you.
  6. Now that's a brand I haven't of this century. Looks & sounds good, though. Any chance that someone has had their sidestand fairing 3d scanned and willing to share the data? It would seem to be a part perfectly suited to 3d printing.
  7. I haven't seen that VFR graphic in decades, from a 1990/1991 Euro model perchance?
  8. Sorry to hear that you've had to lay off biking for so long. Looks like you picked a perfect day, weather-wise, as well as some lovely, scenic roads.
  9. Now you have me thinking about doing the same to my '09's top triple, which is black. True it is mostly covered by the LSL bar kit, but I'm not a big fan of the blackout look. The brake & clutch masters and the fork lowers are also black. The forks I've been thinking about stripping whenever I pull them apart for cleaning and new seals & bushings.
  10. Not if you navigate like me, ha ha. Your photo actually reminded me of UT12 just south of Torrey.
  11. What a lovely scene. It reminds me of places I've ridden in Oregon and NorCal, but I suspect it might be someplace a thousand miles away.
  12. Your '92 is coming along nicely. A couple Q's about you progress: The top triple looks nearly scratch free. Did you refinish it or... Are the wheels and fork legs painted, or polished ally?
  13. Thanks for an interesting read and congratulations for putting back together your VFR. The taking apart is so much easier than reassembly, so easy to end up with a basket-case that never gets revived.

dunno the location, but it sure reminds me of Utah 12 between Torrey and Boulder City. Or perhaps on Colorado 65 - Grand Mesa Scenic Byway. Lovely spot, wherever it may be.

My, my, that brings back old memories. When the Mach III and the CB750 were first out, younger guys lusted after the light, fast, and scarier Kawasaki while middle-aged codgers went for the steady-Eddie Honda. Early reports of the 2-smokes suspect handling only made it more appealing.
  16. I'll second the Go Cruise recommendation - though I disagree about them looking goofy. I think they do a better job than any of the Atlas-style locks. Btw, during nearly 20 years on my 3rd & 5th gen VFRs I never felt any need for a lock. Even my VTR1000Fs were comfy enough. But my '09 VTec regularly put my right hand to sleep. No idea what Honda did to make it so buzzy in the 'bars.
  17. Great photo, Dutchy. I won't be travelling this year, but your trip photos are making that easier to live with. Thanks
  18. Your's doesn't look all that bad, the dark windings are above the high-tide mark. For comparison, here's my '09 VFR800's stator which failed on a trip to Colorado back in 2015. It still had enough output that the battery would stay charged for about 2 days travel. But if you do need a replacement here are three options, and all seem to be in stock. FortNine though you have to specify your bike RegulatorRecifier RMStator (via Amazon)
  19. Thank you, Miguel, for creating such a vibrant place for us to hang out. If we ever cross paths - stranger things have happened - I'll sport you a free beverage of your choice.
  20. Red sky at night, sailors delight. How was your weekend at the races?
  21. I look forward tossing what you come up with. I fitted the spare grey seat from my '91 VFR, and quite liked the look. (shameless excuse to show an old favourite)
  22. What are the fairings like? There are a lot of tabs on 3rd gen bodywork, and on my '92 more than a few were broken. I know this isn't your first rodeo, but might I offer some suggestions? Third gen turn signals were originally on stalks. But the red lenses either side of the brake light can be converted to turn signals, and tidy up the back of the bike. It looks like the previous owner did this on your VFR. I think they look better in amber, like the 4th gen has, and they are a direct replacement - though you may have to sort out the wiring. Speaking of bodywork, I've attached pics of my '92 as stock and after a few changes. I really didn't like the purple/grey VFR decal and bought a set as used on the black 1990/1991 VFRs in Europe. they are similar to the one on red VFRs, but with a gold shadow instead of silver. I applied red tape on rear fairings just wide enough to cover the purple. I have a spare pair of those decals and would like to see them get used, so ping me if you are interested. Condom-less mirrors from the 2000/2001 VFR800 bolt right on. Non-VTec handlebars are a little taller - 5/8"? Their locating tabs are in a different location, but easy to sort out. To be honest, I can't remember if there was any clearance problems with the fairing/windscreen. An easy way to spruce up the appearance of the fork legs is to strip the paint then polish the raw aluminum. Actually most of the leg is pretty smooth so I mostly I was cleaning up mild corrosion from where the paint had chipped off. They stayed shiny for the next 2 1/2 years & 20K km. Lastly, one of the fellows on the old mailing list, Dave Matthew, found that a 2" diameter VDO clock could be fitted to the left side panel. There's a round knock on the panel near the front of the tank. That is where Euro models housed the fuel switch. Here's a link: VDO Marine Clock Best of luck with your project.

Likewise for me, been on a few roads in Nevada that are straight as an arrow for tens of miles.
