  1. I didn’t document anything but there is a detailed instruction manual pdf on Honda’s website that I followed.
  2. Rear carrier and seat. Those little loops under the seat for tie-downs have saved me a lot of trouble.
  3. Yes, it is the same part the deluxe models use. The hardest part of the install was figuring out how to loosen the throttle cable to replace the right hand grip.
  4. I installed the 08t70-mjm-a01 on my standard model a few years ago. It has 5 levels and connects right into the wiring harness.
  5. Assembling the first lock took less than an hour for this slow and careful non-locksmith. The second and third locks took maybe ten minutes each. The instructions are detailed and well-illustrated.
  6. Yeah, it happens from time to time, but only after weak shifts from me.
  7. The seat adjustment is in the manual, it is easy to do.
  8. I thought I was the only one who kept the stock exhaust!
  9. I put on a set of Road 5s on my 8th gen a few months ago. They are much more planted in the dry than the factory tires, and they are spectacular in the wet. A thousand or so miles of commuting haven’t worn them at all as far as I can tell.
  10. I have a few hundred miles on mine now, after replacing the factory tires on my 8th gen. The Road 5s have been very confidence-inspiring, especially in the wet. I had to make a freeway run in the pouring rain immediately after they were mounted, and I was astonished by how much better they felt than the factory tires.
  11. Mine don’t close evenly, either. They seem to close a little differently each time you close them. Don’t worry about it. They are completely watertight, both sitting still and at highway speed. That gasket seals up well.
  12. You only need the key cylinder inner set, x2 because you are building two locks. The body part is a flange that comes pre-installed in the panniers. I ordered one and ended up not needing it. The seamless integration is a great feature. Taking the cases on and off takes seconds.
  13. It would have to be a very small helmet to fit in the side cases. My Shoei GT -Air in L and my Qwest in XL don’t fit no matter how i turn them. The top box will hold one helmet, though.
  14. The centerstand parts are cheap - but the labor will be very expensive. They have to drop the exhaust to install it. The oem heated grips aren’t very expensive and they plug right into the existing harness, and you even get the indicator on the dash.
  15. My 2014 was corroded inside the steering stem when I installed my Ram mount. That was last summer.
  16. The one key instructions are fairly clear. Just take your time and work in a well-lit area.
  17. My 31l just barely fits my Shoei GT-Air (size L) or my Qwest (size XL). If you plan on using it to store your helmet when you are off the bike, you only have a few cubic inches of space left to store stuff. Otherwise, it looks great, locks up solidly, and functions flawlessly like factory luggage should.
  18. I doubt it. I just installed some factory heated grips this winter, and the left grip feelis like one solid piece of rubber. The resistor may be molded in. Even worse, the right grip has the throttle tube molded into the grip.
  19. My light is green. My heated grips are the newest part number. I ordered them this February. The old part was superseded. Perhaps they changed the light.
  20. Yes, mine has handled charging my phone for a year with no problems. I use a usb outlet on my battery tender harness.
  21. The lettering is exactly the same on my 2014 US model, just in case you were still wondering.
  22. I ran 87 octane exclusively this year after re-read my owners manual and noticed that 87 is all it needs. I haven’t experienced any degradation of performance or any pre-detonation at any RPM. Last year, after I made the switch from 93 to 87 octane, I kept track of my fuel mileage and it was unchanged.
  23. The United States uses a different octane measurement. Our 87 octane ((R+M)/2 ) is equal to 91 RON in Australia and New Zealand. So his regular gas is our regular gas.
  24. Does anyone know if the 8th gen rear carrier is the same part as the 7th gen? Sometimes I see 7th gen ones for sale and they look very similar.
