  1. I would suggest ordering a SH847 from www.roadstercycle.com it will replace any old band-aids, hacks, etc. : )
  2. Never had an issue charging with a SH847 under any condition. The heat doesn't really affect them in my experience. I'd be looking at your stator voltages when it's hot. Also make sure it doesn't develop continuity to ground when hot.
  3. I would not order the regulator that you linked. I'd order a SH847 from www.roadstercycle.com or Suzuki directly. That regulator you linked is very low quality and should not be used from my experience. I have seen them fail. They also still cause pre-mature stator failure due to the nature of MOSFET technology. Series rectifiers actually keep the stator cooler! A cooler stator lasts many many more miles.
  4. The ST version isn't really pictured, so it could be closer to the ST line of bikes when they're all said and done. However the engine, as noted, isn't likely to thrill anyone.
  5. Take VFRs for example. 5th gen came factory 10w40. They swapped to 10w30 for 6th gen on. On the shelves I have a harder time finding 10w40 vs 10w30 and 5w30 locally.
  6. The factory manual lists 10w40 as an acceptable option in hot climates. It's becoming a somewhat uncommon weight these days, I've noticed. I would use synthetic oils in hotter climates as they will perform better, usually. I use Honda HP4S on the bikes I ride during summer (any good synesthetic JASO MA oil of the correct weight is fine)
  7. I would not run these headers without a tune of some sort.
  8. Actually all historic threads are there, you just sometimes have to adjust the link for them to come up.
  9. No offence to the WireMyBike guy, because he has spent a lot of time supporting the VFR community, but the VFRness is no longer needed as upgrading your R/R and directly wiring it to the battery seems to be a much better solution. Using the SH847 also has benefits for stator life, too.

    Old Tires

    Love those RS3s
  11. That was a "by the book" thing. I'll add an asterisk and note it may not be required.
  12. Used FH020AA from FZ09 are on eBay for the guys wanting to be "super cheap". I've gotten them as cheap as $25 Eastern beaver connectors. Wire & Fuse off Amazon/etc.= Sub $60 upgrade
  13. They're what the book calls for. I personally go by feel for the most part.
  14. www.roadstercycle.com get the SH847 kit
  15. Stock is thinning out. $5000-7000 for a brand new motorbike of impeccable quality is an insane deal. Worth jumping on them now while you can.. in 2 years going to have lots of people with 6th gens getting tired and the owners wishing they had grabbed an 8th. Oh if the lack of an undertail exhaust is holding you back, you should re-evaluate your requirement. Undertail exhaust puts weight up too high. The side can offsets the SSSA weight making the 8th as balanced as the 5th gen was. 🙂 Stock bags too small? Only like 1% of 6th gen owners have OEM bags. The same aftermarket options are still there for 8th.
  16. There are owners, and there are lifetime owners. Sad to see you're the former. GL on your 2 wheeled adventures
  17. What you feel in your 6th gen is a LOSS of power before VTEC engagement, not VTEC bringing a boost of power. The 8th doesn't loose power before VTEC engagement like the 6ths did, so no "dip"
  18. What do you mean "what other options?" Tons of Gen8s around, brand new.
  19. Buy the exact plugs as specified in the owners manual. The manual has part numbers. They come pre-gapped. Do not adjust the gap, especially with an old style tool. Denso or NGK only on plugs, again, as specified in the owners manual. Looks like they sent you the pre-VTEC style, which is different. Denso are just fine. They're identical in quality to NGK and work properly. Having the right part # helps though
  20. Wish they'd allow us to return the restrictive filter for the new one; I have one taking up space on a shelf. No sense to run it over stock.
  21. It shouldn't affect it negatively that I could see. The ECU cuts ignition/fuel temporarily when it senses the shift.
  22. Yes, for over 2 hours in the dark. This bike followed me to a car/bike show with the LED lights I posted. Rider reports best visibility ever, and I had no issues with them being too high, bouncing, that sort of stuff. I feel the OEM LEDs on the 2014 are amazing.
  23. They made minor alterations to the bike in 2017 for Euro4 - May have have been so all "RC93" models are Euro4 compliant. Yep, so if someone in the US want a brand new Honda VFR800, you best find one sitting on a dealer floor. As an American that's your last chance to get one (new).

  25. Sold my 6th gen and bought the 8th the very next day. Never looked back. 8th is simply a better motorcycle. I think it was tuned for slightly less top speed but added low end, either way with the quickshifter the 8th is quicker 😉 I'm a huge fan of my 5th gen, and I feel more 5th gen lineage in the 8th than I do the 6th. It has that Honda feel!
