I just bought a set of these headers off of capnspiff for my new-to-me 8th gen. I am looking to buy the attack map for the 8th gen. I sent an email to vfrheaders@gmail.com about it. I read about the unfortunate passing of the gentleman who was running that e-mail account. If anyone has taken it over for him, I am happy to pay for the map. We will see if I hear back. If I don't end up hearing back, does anyone here have the map? If so I'd be happy to make a $50 donation to the forum or send the funds somewhere else appropriate. Thanks, Ian Ian, I was the person who partnered with Lance (sfdownhill) on the building of these headers but unfortunately he held onto most of the data and handled most of the electronic files such as the tuning maps. I am on travel at the moment but can see if I can help anyway I can when I get back home next weekend. Quote

I can always try to get ahold of someone who used one of the eighth gen attack maps from earlier in the thread and see if they can sort me out. And worst case scenario I can just auto tune the thing and wait a few months of riding before its properly optimized as well. It's a low urgency thing. 1 Quote

I'm sure having attack create these wasn't cheap. Quote
Member Contributer RC51Nick Posted June 2 Member Contributer Posted June 2 Finally got everything bolted on and up and running. Wow is all I can say. Much smoother, more power, and when the VTEC activated there was a MUCH smoother transition then I have ever had on this bike before. I'm a firm believer that all the bullshit I went through getting these installed was WELL worth it. (only issue still out there is the header was approx 1/2 inch too short for my stock Staintune mid pipe. The slots in the midpipe allow about an 1/8 of an inch of the end of he header pipe to be exposed. I installed the clamp over that area and am not going to worry about it. Thanks again to this group for getting it done and for helping me out with questions. Nick 5 Quote

Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve been traveling for work almost the whole month of May. I just got back home today (June 1). I’ll PM you tomorrow when I hope to be more acclimated to home life again. Cheers Quote
Olstorparn Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Hi guys! i haven´t read all comments though, but are these headers still available for 6th and 8th gen? thank you Quote
Member Contributer vfrcapn Posted July 10 Member Contributer Posted July 10 No, the last production run was 2023. https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/88463-new-5th6th8th-gen-performance-header-now-in-production-in-usa/&do=findComment&comment=1157154 Quote

I'm sure we can locate someone to perhaps build a set of "tribute" headers for the group, if not Wade himself. I'm hoping that he didn't toss out the welding jigs that Wade had given him and maybe we can do this again in his honor. Whether it's with Wade or someone else, the jigs would definitely be of great benefit. I'll keep everyone up to date as best I can. His cousin said they were planning on going to his place soon to clear out his stuff, I'll see if I can join them and perhaps get a hold of the jigs Wade provided him. At the very least, they asked for my help with all his motorcycle stuff, as his family is not that keen on what he has or values of his bikes and gear. Did you ever come across those jigs? Just wondering. It seems like it would be a waste to lose those tools and info. Quote
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted August 27 Member Contributer Posted August 27 Yes I did and I spoke with the original pipe builder. He said that he gave these back because he needed room for another project and said he would be open to building more sets. I've been super busy at my new job so have not had much time to deal with much extra curriculum stuff. I'm going to reach out to the builder again and see what he feels the current cost would be and see what quantities he would need to do this again. I'll keep you posted. Cheers, D 5 Quote
