Member Contributer evl_twn Posted November 24, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted November 24, 2018 Wan't sure whether to post up in here or 3rd gen, but since the 86's are up front here we are 🙂 My brother dropped off his 3rd gen, so we have the "fridge and freezer" in the back, and my 86 840 and project VFR I picked up recently up front. Couldn't help but think of the song from Foreigner. 🤣
Member Contributer evl_twn Posted November 24, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted November 24, 2018 I guess the other VFR's got jealous, and demanded to be added to the family pic...

Member Contributer JZH Posted November 26, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted November 26, 2018 The TTS kit was 837cc (rounded up to 840!), but I'd never heard of anyone doing an RC24 before. Now I have! Ciao, JZH

Aficior
@evl_twn The paint on frame and engine does not look very fresh on this picture of the 840. (I do not mean this in a bad way). T looks like it is well used.

It's not just a sticker 🙂 I built that engine quite some time ago, sourced the 74mm pistons from TTS in the UK (they're JE pistons). Mike Velasco did the boring job. I tried mounting a single side swinger at first, but I gave up when I saw how much wider the sprocket spacing was on the back, didn't want to fuss with trying to make it work. www.rc30.us/vfr.html The engine cover is well used, but still the original paint. I polished the frame, but it hindsight I should have just left it alone.

I think he means, "was it worth the cost and effort" is really the sort of question only someone without a decade-long unfinished motorcycle project would ask. (Or several, in my case...) (Or several, in my case...) Ciao, JZH Haha yes I'll pay that John 😄 I could take a similar photo, as my 4th Gen collection doubled this year... I now have three red ones to go with the one formerly known as black - which is still a project... The two newcomers are goers, which makes a nice change.
