Wow, maybe it's my computer, but for a place that does stitching/embroidery for a business that is one of the most poorly formatted ebay ads. TBH, I would pass on that reason alone. Who knows what quality and fitment the product they sell has. Not to mention their company website is a facebook page... That just screams post sale support.

Check out the Saddlemen seat covers. Also if you can find something somewhat local to where shipping costs werent an issue you would be better off just getting a new seat.

I've got one of their seat covers.

I can highly recommend it. The quality and fit are fantastic. I had mine professionally fitted by a local upholsterer.

Thanks Steve, I have a good upholsterer here locally so I might just copy that seat cover design of yours, I'll send a pic of it by email to them.

Hi Saoirse32, i am also going down the seat recovering as well, mainly my pillion part (Sargent) it fell off - dont ask.Taken mine to a local upholsterer who said easy job and cheap as hell. He's also gonna put some gel pads in for me to try, its a lot cheaper than bike seat "specialists".

Ps got my ferry tickets booked for the NW200 now looking for accommodation.PM me.

That's very stylish Steve. Was this a simple cover over the standard foam or was there more to it?

I did mine recently with a cheap eBay cover and it looks a lot lot better than the original ripped one! It's also more comfortable. I sanded the foam very slightly, maybe half a mill, as this breaks the "skin" of the foam from the mold. Apparently. It allows the foam to flex a little more. That, combined with the new lack of a hard and torn cover, did wonders. It also looks nice again.

It was the same cover from the original post by Saoirse32

I chose light grey stitching and piping. My bike is black with a titanium/silver nuts bolts theme. Really impressed with the quality, bike is still not finished, and not on the road yet, so I'm not sure how the seat will actually be.

Took the seat to the upholsterer, who removed the old cover and just fitted this one on.

That deal is over, but they have this, or an all black one same price.

Anyone have a comment on the butt traction available?

When I wear my new textile suit my ass slides around which does not happen with leathers on.

So, I would like more traction for my ass on the seat in case of. :wheel:

I purchased one of the covers from here: http://www.ebay.com/usr/firma_wijalis?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754

Very impressed with the finish and fit on my VTR1000.

The shape of the VTR seat locks one into place more than the VFR, but it feels to have more "butt traction" than stock.

That's a nice looking piece. The VFR doesn't have much of a butt stop behind the rider.

Even if it did it might be a bit far back to do me any good, since I am non tall.

I figure a leather surface ought to have more traction than the slick vinyl stock seat cover.

I don't want a seat sticky like velcro, need to move around.

But shouldn't have to squeeze the tank with my knees every time I brake to protect the jewelry,

and slide back every time I gas it.

Steve - that looks great. I've been eyeing these covers for a while but wasn't too sure. When you say local upholsterer do you mean a motorcycle specialist or just an all-rounder who does furniture etc?

I did it myself; there are instructions on-line on how to do this e.g. http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/modify_3.htm

The only tricky bit is getting a decent staple gun that can fire into the hard plastic seat base. I used a hand staple gun with stainless steel 6mm staples, and it took a fair bit of effort and quite a few misfires. Any professional upholsterer would have a pneumatic staple gun that would make the job a lot easier.

I've got one that has previously shot thin nails into baseboards and the like, and also does staples.

Not very expensive. Unless you buy it for just one job.

More interested in traction for my arse on the seat. :warranty:

Here's another one for reference. I completed this install of a top sellerie seat cover yesterday, including adding some more padding. Most of the time was involved in un-stapling the old cover. I'd recommend it.

There are some fold marks from being in the package that are visible after installation, which I'm assuming will disappear with time.

I currently have about 1/4 as many staples as the prior cover had and the design of the cover is sort of like a fitted bedsheet so you can get away with a lot less, at least initially. I thought I'd ride it for a bit this way and make sure I'm happy with the padding I added before putting a lot more staples in.

I used a pneumatic stapler with 10mm staples. No problems getting the staples in all the way.

The original staples were a wire type as opposed to the ones I used. Not sure if one is recommended over the other.

Those are sharp looking seat covers. I am sure at some point I will have to recover or replace my seat. I'm not particularly fond of the large VFR embroidery or high contrast stitching, but to each their own. From the pictures in this post, there seem to be three different versions? The pillion seat area seems to be different in each photo, no? Do they make a version without the VFR text or high contrast stitching? Also, I would like to know if the seams and piping cause any discomfort while riding. Thanks.

You'd have to inquire with the source regarding eliminating the logo etc. No discomfort from the seams that I can tell so far but I only have about 1 hour in the saddle so far. The extra padding means I'm no longer pushing through the soft foam to the seat pan so much better right there.

I'm pretty sure with the cover that I purchased that you can get them without the logo as they are sewn to order. I have no discomfort from the seams or piping (i.e. my arse is not sufficiently sensitive). I rode 300km yesterday on my VTR with no issues at all (aside from the fact that it was only 9C).

I'm considering getting another cover for my VFR as I would like to re-shape the seat. Although it looks flat, I seem to spend far too much time sliding into the tank, so I was thinking of shaving a little of the foam at the rear and adding a little to the nose of the saddle. I'd love to but a Sargent seat but can't justify the expense.
