mrmatt
Looks great, is the wheel from a 955 as well? Keep up the good work, if you go without the side panels I vote for no bellypan, or at least not the VFR one, looks much too big
v4vfrgixxer750
were a dieing breed in the UK :-) lol bike has been under transformation since Christmas but keep adding different ideas lol just gotta get the bodywork done then i can get it ready for painting! the most important part......... i fell in love with the big swig as soon as i saw it lol ya the hub and spline and wheel is all triumph Daytona t595. i think im definitely gonna make it so i can run it either fully faired AND not, get the best of both worlds then
Veefer800Canuck
ya the hub and spline and wheel is all triumph Daytona t595. Can you detail what exactly was involved with fitting the Triumph bits? Pics other than the ones already posted?
v4vfrgixxer750
ya the hub and spline and wheel is all triumph Daytona t595. Can you detail what exactly was involved with fitting the Triumph bits? Pics other than the ones already posted? Hi canuck, ya certainly i can do that what sort of pictures would like and i'll try and get them heres a pic of all the triumph bits i used except the caliper holder............... the vfr caliper holder needs a slight mod of drilling the two mount holes further down to sit the caliper on the disc fully but other than that its a straight swap out and i would say theres enuff room for a 190 tire on the rim as well :) it handles a dream now especially with the cbr shock! i love it! next up is making it all look factory, reapairing some bodywork and a headlight swap to bi xenon projectors, then onto the paint at some point..................CANT WAIT
v4vfrgixxer750
LONG OVERDUE UPDATE, sorry my internet had stopped working for a few days.............. BUT im back with LOADS to show for it!! its a big one guys...............an with loadsa piccy's!! and now for the obligatory arty photo's lol  what do you lot think, even if it has got fairings! lol my last update to do which brings me up to date to where it currently sits....... made my own headlight cover from about £3 worth of perspex from good old friend ebay... removed the headlight then shove the perspex in the oven for a good few mins till it went really soft and flexible take it out using glove and lay it over the headlight and push it over the curves to take its shape heres all the tools i used, a heat gun, oven, cold water spray, andgle grinder and gloves half way there fully trimmed down with an angle grinder and a thick grinding disc (DO IT SLOWLY!!) then sanded it 400 grit then a quick splash of rattle can black till the bike is painted properly......... and what it looks like on the bike :D am i happy? too right i am! lol first time ive ever tried it and hadnt even read about it being done and it come out as good as a £20 cover for only £3! cant be bad at all! so there you go guys an gals thats where my v4 speedfighter sits right now. LETS HEAR WHAT YA GOTTA SAY?? next on the agenda is 2 bi-xenon projector lights with halo/angel eyes :D F**kinell that looks great! How's your chain alignment? Did you just stuff the Trumpet bits in there or did you add spacers or anything? cheers for the compliments mate means alot' date=' as ive done it all myself in a tiny shed with basic tools :D chain alignment looks spot on. with regards to parts, i used the whole t595 daytona hub-spline/spindle including the adjuster and sprocket carrier and no spacers its came together real easy, you can use the original vfr cush drive/sprocket carrier and adjuster too but the trumpet one was cleaner with better bearings. you gotta use the vfr caliper holder and caliper and i gotta modify the caliper holder a tiny bit so the caliper fits onto the disc fully........but other than that its golden!! and the handling is great really alot more stable, i had chicken strips on the 5" 170 and now with the 6" 180 im off the edge of the tire already :D thankyou guys for all the compliments was really expecting to get flamed! but just couldnt get the look i want, but rest assured the kettle will be fully nekkid! my aim is to show as lil vfr off as possible lol i got my next piece of the puzzle in the post today so i cant wait for weekend!!!!! :letsride: funny thing is the way the fairings are mounted (angles etc) if you park it next to the same year gixxer, they look really goofy and not aggressive at all haha  if anyone wants any close up pics of anything give us a shout and i'll help any way i can! and remember i have parts for sale in my other thread to fund the kettle :D lol
v4vfrgixxer750
next update for you guys! :D had some time to get my shock fitted, turned out to be a pain in the ass lol but was worth it :) i'll let the pics do the talking! how my garden looked half way through! lol what a bomsite........... TA DA EMPTYNESS! what a difference :D NEKKID! done but needs a few more spacers as its sitting a tiny bit too low done and dusted, back together until next time! lol and a game of spot the difference............. hope you like! been hard at working repairing body panels and trying to make the side panels match the frame :D will let the pics do most of the talking!! first job on the list was to finally! relocate my oil cooler out from under my front fairing..... MUCH BETTER!! yes my downpipes will be getting replaced! :LolLolLolLol: now for a picture of my TIDY workspace ;) DAM the bike looks good naked lol but oh well, gonna hopefully modify the blue fairing so i can run it half naked OR fully faired :) got my side panel brackets made out of some ally strips, not pretty but you cant see them and they work perfect, and whilst it was apart and cut off the oil cooler bracket from the headlight bracket and gave it a lick of satin black............... and again yes the screen screws will be replaced :LolLolLolLol: they were just there at the time........... :) got a nice new toy to help me out hugely with my bodywork! next on the list was to make the side fairings look like they were meant for the bike and fit the shape of the frame better! BEFORE DURING AFTER!........ bit of fillering an it'll be good for primer got the right side done in the same way :D just a lil more trimming on the right side and it will match perfectly.......... next i gotta complete the fillering and make up some infills for the front fairing gave the oil cooler and brackets a splash of satin black so now that blends in alot better! thats it for now guys! let me know what your thoughts are! just ordered a gazebo to use as a pop up paint tent, got my parts for the compressor so thats now working and gonna order a dash but i havnt got a clue which one to use! :( need some opinions guys! around the £80-£180 mark maximum so what ya gotta say!!?? and that my vfr friends!.............. BRINGS US UP TO DATE told you it was a long one lol but happy reading!
mrmatt
Good work I've been really happy with my '98 CBR gauges, should be pretty easy to find. You'll need a speedohealer though, and a CBR temp gauge, but the rest just wires right in DSC01745.JPG Like what you did with the oil cooler, did you just use some hose clamps on the original stuff? v4vfrgixxer750
Hey matt. cheers for reply about clocks, the only problem i have is a VERY DISTINCT lack of space! Where im using gsxr parts i can only fit quite small gauges like a cbr1000rr for example but there real pricey. ive found a nice koso gauge for 85 but ideally didnt want to run a magnet setup but oh well needs must. For the oil lines, i just cut off the rubber line, cut it to right length and clamped it over the barbed bit :-)........ easy as pie and neatens it up sooooo much. but i think i have a lil oil weep as my line is very rusty and i need to find another one. zRoYz
Just a work of warning were you have located your oil cooler, rocks are your enemy & there going to slam into that oil cooler so you might want to think about some protection like alloy mesh as armor. v4vfrgixxer750
cheers for the compliments! as for the respray, ive got my gazebo on the way and it'll be ready for primer very soon! as in a matter of weeks (just gotta finish the filler work etc) then ive gotta get the paint and im good to go..................... im so excited to paint it lol I CANT WAIT! im definately gonna make a cover for my oil cooler, just gonna get a sheet of strong mesh and paint it black, nice an easy! HERES A TASTER FOR THE PAINT COLOURS AND A ROUGH DESIGN! (it wont be as bright and fake looking as this but you get the idea! The black will be slightly different and will have blue metal flake over just the black) lid is getting the paint treatment as well an heres the paint colours im using these pics dont do the blue paint and metal flake any just though, they look soo much better in real life! i know its a very marmite paintscheme but i wanted it bright and i love it! tailgunn
At first glance I thought it was gonna look like a beast created by a hack, but I was wrong. Looks damn good, in fact, I even like the primer!
