soichiro
I LOVE the video Timmy superb, with the risk of getting flamed the red VFR rider behind you... well.. is there really all that need to hang off the bike so much when the bike itself isn't leaned over enough to constitute getting the knee down even on relatively gentle corners?! Anyway great riding guys and I wish I could of been there! 1. Please don't take this as a flame... 2. I am the red rider 3. It was damp/wet 4. The corners only appear to be gentle, many of them are anything but 5. I hang my girth off the bike as a safety measure - the whole point of hanging off is to make the bike more upright at a given corner speed 6. I need the exercise 7. I was on camera!! I hang off like a monkey. Mainly because thats how a sportbike should be ridden. As SEB and I were discussing at the meet, we like to get a knee down because it's fun. Monk
I started riding long before mc racers were using the knee as a curb feeler, and sliding their butts off the seat to one side to corner. I don't see why it's a "phoo-paa" to use as a normal street riding style, as it's nothing more than optimizing traction and control. Legally you're still on the riders seat and both hands are on the grips, with both feet on the pigs(except for Rossi wan-a-be's). So why not do it ? For the record I don't move on the seat, but lean my upper body to do the same thing with a lesser effect, but I'm infavour of those that do. For the OL' f_rts that want to maximize the upper body lean, is to roll the weight to the inside rear cheek bone along with the inside foot peg. timmythecop
There is a vintage racer in WERA who is a regional champion in the mid-east who rides an old GPz750 bolt upright. His name is Bill Bloom. he has titanium hips and he is nearing 70. I would bet alot of money that he is faster than 75 percent of us too.

Do a few hundreds of those weight transfers from left to right and right to left on a bike and if you are not in shape you will feel pain!
Member Contributer 5thGenJim Posted June 3, 2011 Member Contributer Share Posted June 3, 2011 Are we doomed to have "Yankee" misspelled until the end of time? I blame Baileyrock & Seb. The "Yankey Go Home" sign. Oh, and truly sorry about the corner stuff KKKen! I blame Canada. That's not misspelled, Trav...

No I'm not, I think if riders want to hang off it should be excepted by the police(gov) and public. "Phoo-paa" was my etempt at Southern humor for "faut pas". Baileyrock
Are you calling out the people who hang off? And WTF is "phoo-paa"??? Chill kids! What's with the adversarial attitude guys??? No one hung off bikes including racing for decades and you Can haul azz on the street not hanging off at all. Also it's common perception for most especially Leo's that hanging Off draws Negative attention on the street. Do most of us who do hang off really need too, no but it does add a safety margin doing so even if it does draw attention and some of us are actually looking for it! I know Monk was Not calling anyone out, but just like loud exhaust, hanging off does draw undesired negative attention to the sport that I'm sure people who don't have loud exhaust, hang off or ride as quick as some of us do one the street don't really appreciate. I've seen Baileyrock ride.. Apparently he prefers to just stand up on the pegs while cornering, instead of all that silly hanging-off stuff, anyways. Member Contributer VFRBulldawg Posted June 3, 2011 Member Contributer Share Posted June 3, 2011 Alright I know a few of y'all have been waiting on my pictures from Saturday afternoon on the Cherohala Skyway. Well, here are the best ones (I've posted at least one picture of every VFR I saw that afternoon) along with a few shots from the Awards Banquet on Saturday night. Unfortunately when most of the groups went past me they were stuck behind a slow car or were in the process of moving themselves through a group of slow harleys, so not much opportunity for lots of lean angle. Pretty much all of these images are crops from larger pictures maintaining a standard 4x6 DSLR aspect ratio. If you like one of yourself PM me with your email address and I'll email you the full size image file. I can send you the original jpeg or RAW file so you can crop it to your liking or you can tell me what aspect ratio you would like (3x4 or 9x16 for digital picture frames or 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, or 20x30 for prints) and I'll crop it for you. All of these pictures, even heavily cropped ones, can be printed at 8x10, most of them can be printed larger. I hope you like!
