Demodification...crazy Idea?

keny

Question

I`m crazy?

I have problems getting funds to buy new front brake discs and a LSL upper triple for the fork. The billet handelbar fastner I have now are not good anymore, unsafe fastning of the handelbar. The rotore are wraped, and also need to rebuild the brake calippers. sad.gif

So to get a bike to ride next season I thought of putting my-87 VFR back to stock... As I only need a new front tire to do it.

Then putting it back to modified next winter, or the following if depending when I have the bits...

Are you saying that your modifications are worn out and need to be replaced? If you don't have the money to replace them, using the stock parts sounds reasonable.

Just my opinion, but most mods don't really improve the performance of the bike that much. Brake mods are usually the most beneficial, but most other mods usually end up being nothing more than cosmetic. So don't feel bad about going back to stock.

A person can get way more out of focusing on good riding technique and safety than a new exhaust or power commander etc. I have Staintunes on my bike as they were a gift, and the Sargent seat is a huge improvment over OEM. My CBR is completely stock.

Unless Keny's changed the internals in the forks to match the Hagon shock. Then going back to stock could be a disappointment.

Why not search ebay(us ebay), and have a member here send the parts to you?

Or, do whatcha gotta do. Having the mod parts off the bike for a while will allow you to give them a good thorough cleaning and inspection, and they'll be even nicer to put back on later. No shame in it.

Was planing to also changeing the fork oil to a heavy grade oil. Don´t mind if it gets a bit hash but sertanly want a bit more controll than stock. So I guess not to totally stock... :wheel:

Anyway cheaper than getting new brake discs (EBC oem replacement 221€/pcs) for the Kawi front and the upper triple (259€).

And I know the action will not be as good as its now, but better than not riding next summer... And start putting money on save to buy the things I need lather.

I have now done 3 rides whit the bike whit stock fork. after first I change the 15w fork oil to 10w, 15w was to hash and its now better, pretty in balanse whit the Hagon shock in fact. Its sure a bit flexier then the Kawi USD, and the spring are to weak (will order better ones WP in fact), but the flex doesnt seem to bother me. I like how the bike handel now, spechally after I droped the fork legs 15mm. At the same the rideing posisson got better as the bar are a little higher. So I guess my Kawi fork is up for sale (if some one is intrested), and I looking for a CBR600F1 "Hurrican" front wheel (to get 17" front) and some Race tech gold emulassion valves for the fork, and will first get the springs of corse, and stay whit the stock fork. Call me strange or what, but that is what I gonna do!

Most of the mods I made where of a comfort nature, heated grips, corbin seat, heated seat element. Performance mods well the ohlins made a great deal of improvement, cant go wrong with tuning your suspension if you plan on riding your bike forever like me. Now the pc2, the staintune well those are debatable.

Isn't 15W standard for the RC24 forks? Did you also pressurise the forks to the recommended psi?

And did you allready find a replacement for the worn Hagon or found a race specialist that can rebuild it for you?

I have a front wheel from my '96 VFR that's not being used. If you're interested in it, just let me know. If you need it now I can ship it up there, or if youcan wait, you can always pick it up when you come down here. Also, if possible on your trip, could you bring some Finnish beers with you, I'll gladly trade German beers!!!

No, the Hagon still on, still works "ok", but as sade adjuster is full in... rebound is on weak side. I hope I could get enough money for my Kawi USD fork to buy a new shock, WP is high on the list...

And to the fork oil, the Honda fork oil Haeyns manual says is egual to 5W. I have order new WP springs, will come in a few weeks.

If you can fit it on your bike, and not drink it on the way down, I'll drink it when you get here, that is after it gets slightly chilled. :fing02:

Still waiting for the springs. And the Kawi fork is sold. But I found one shop that will do the Hagon, so I guess I dont spend money on a new shock. I also have a CBR600F1 wheel on the way, just need to get a desent front tire for it...to grip the ring.
