Guest K.C.
The front two bolts that hold the tank on seem like a great place to put a RAM mount for a camera but I can't figure out what base/ball plate to use. Has anyone done this ?
Member Contributer PhatPat33 Posted September 22, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted September 22, 2007 Check out Hulked Up's page. This is where I got the idea from. Hulked Up's Camera Mount -- WesternMassRiding.com RAM mounts. Take the U-bolt out and use the bolts from the tank to mount. Get the long arm..... This is the medium Camera Mount

Member Contributer Das Bone Posted September 22, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted September 22, 2007 Yes, lots of us have been using this set up for quite a while. I've used as both a vid cam mount and a RD mount  100_0410.JPG

Has anyone done this ? I can't find the camera mount on their site? Is it a combination of 2 parts? Sweet cheap solution! How new does my windshield need to be? I think it is an original. Member Contributer BonusVFR Posted September 22, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted September 22, 2007 RAM tank mount works great on 5th and 6th gen bikes. Another great VFRD pass on!!!!!!!! I prefer to use camera on left grip so I can shoot over the shield. Zumo goes on Tank MT.

Guest
Awesome, thanks for the info guys. I'm actually using a tank mount for the camera and trying to figure out where to put the recorder. I've just been putting it in my pocket, which works fine. I may just keep it there and mount the remote control, it's only abut 1.5" square. Member Contributer Rice Posted September 24, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted September 24, 2007 Check out Hulked Up's page. This is where I got the idea from.Hulked Up's Camera Mount -- WesternMassRiding.com RAM mounts. Take the U-bolt out and use the bolts from the tank to mount. RAM has two sizes of u-bolts: to fit 3/4" to 1" handlebars and for 1" to 1-1/4" handlebars. I would imagine that only one of these will fit 6th Gen. tank bolts. Which one should I use? Thanks. zRoYz
Word of advise, don't bother with a ram mount video camera, even if it's only to hold a lipstick cam. They just vibrate to much with the one mounting point & length you need to raise cam over instruments. www.sportbikecam.com has a tank mount for video cam's that bolts onto tank filler cap bolts & keeps vibration down to a minimum, I have one on my 6th gen & it works a treat (I tried the ram mount first because I already had one installed for gps).
