  1. Oh! A thing I just did this year was to add captive spacers. Check out CaptiveSpacerManUK on eBay. He sells them as f/r kits, but I explained the situation and he sold me a set of only front SP1 captive spacers. Maybe he can even custom cut you a set if you want a mismatched wheel/fork/axle? If you can figure out the spec, of course. They are aluminum and suuuper lightweight!
  2. You probably already know it, but you'll have to cut off the stock SP1 steering stops and fabricate new ones. You can see Capn's on the right.
  3. Top is 954, bottom is SP1. The VFR would have a different offset to them, so no go mixing them. As I mentioned earlier, I think the 7G lower triple is different diameter on the forks to the SP1. But, find someone to measure the diameter of 7G forks where they are clamped to make sure. Maybe you could end up with the same offset as you had on stock 5th Gen by using 7G triples. And I don't know either offset numbers. CornerCarver got me into that setup. Low front, tall rear (5mm shim on the top of the shock), but now he's gone away from that type of setup and a more neutral front. I still like it this way, though. The only clearance issue is with the clutch master cylinder. The forks are literally as high as they can go because the clutch master is in the way as you maybe can tell from the pic. But other than that, maybe my Pit Bull front end stand is a little bit harder to fit the pin into the stem? But's rare that I use the stem lift since it's capable of lifting from the forks too.
  4. I'll say yes to that!
  5. I’ve got my front end set up very low, so I didn’t even need the top gull wing. But using a flat bridge (I have an SP1 in my tool box) would raise my hands above where they would be on stock 5th. Good option if I want to have a "Helibars" type effect. (SP1 masters - clutch and brake) Love the OE look because of the 7G clip ons. Even the tabs fit the top bridge! (My brake lines are a mess! Excuse the clumsy banjo fitting) No clearance issues with the bars, tank, and fairings. Here's a comparison of 5th and 7th. 7G is black, and slightly taller.
  6. I'm not sure, but I think the 7G lower triple is the wrong diameter for the SP1 forks. And I want to guess that the offset is the same as 800s.
  7. I pestered 7th Gen owners who had swapped out their stock clipons looming for a good deal on an unwanted set. Got offered a free set! They are slightly taller than 5th Gen, but with the gull wing they net lower.
  8. My mistake, I knew it seemed too good to be true! I guess my eyes were a little blurred by the wine...LOL But I found the car section. 4 Wheel steering Prelude!
  9. Oh yeah, I forgot... Get yourself some Staintunes! I bought dual mufflers for an RC51 and ST1300! That S#!t aint cheap!
  10. Lasers look the best, possibly sound the best on 6th. Staintune is 100% the best single side muffler for the 5th! (I have 2, low and high mount)
  11. Um, "Road Fox" just blew my mind!
  12. +2 I prefer the lever on my ‘99 over wax unit. I’d say it should work, just cap your coolant line to the wax unit, and find a lever and cable. You should be able to add it to your left switch pod, as I think they only use a blocking plate rather than a different pod.
  13. Is that the pull starter for when the R/R dies and kills the battery? 😁😎 (Actually CornerCarver's joke about his SC 6th Gen that I built)
  14. That's what I did and it seemed to make it hotter... 176-178 on the highway in open air is perfect, no issues. Stuck behind a car it'll probably head up to 185.
  15. Interesting, did they combine the three that meet under the left rad into 1?
  16. Royal Purple is pretty expensive, but totally worth the extra $$$! Of course I'm running LEDs in Gixxer mirrors and a Thurn rear unit, so YMMV.
  17. White wheels on yellow, don't see that often! Are those SebSpeed's rearset adapters?
  18. Or you could reply to texts... Old t'stat opens about 4 degrees sooner than the new one. Not sure that would cause 10 degrees higher running temps...
  19. Totally agree with Mohawk above. OP should be ok. That’s what I was seeing before my updates. So I did this today.
  20. No, I'll probably get to that pretty soon though. Definitely can test the old one, not looking forward to tearing it apart again to see about the new one.
  21. Yeah, I know all that as I've had both (on track). I just feel like I'm 10 degrees Fahrenheit too high at the moment, and it was fine before I went and "improved" it all...
  22. Now it's my turn to beat that horse! First long ride on my '99 today after changing the cooling system. New AS3 silicone hoses, new water pump, new t-stat, new rad cap, new O-rings, and new Honda Type 2 coolant. And it ran hot all day! Worst was going up the Cherohala from NC side. Once I got to the sorta top area (kinda plateaus a bit) I switched from air temp (68F) to water and it was 224! Was probably running 7-8k on the tach, not that extreme. Stuck it into 6th and got the temp back down. Rest was mostly downhill, so not bad. Only really cools itself on downhill or level in 6th with low revs, like 4-5k max.
  23. Ditto for 5th Gen!
  24. I saw that bike recently...
