  1. Great job Tammy! Nice photos. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Spencer - I think your ride today gets you the Oregon Trail "Iron Butt" award - that's some serious distance for a single day! Glad you could make it - it was great to meet you. Glad you're home safely - looking forward to seeing you at the next one! Cheers. Curry
  3. That paint job is brilliant - looks great. Very nice find.
  4. Here are some more photos - we'll get lots more as people find their way home . . . Saturday's ride was from Bend, a gas stop at Sisters, OR and then up old HWY 242 to the summit of the pass - Dee Wright Observatory is there - I don't remember how many peaks are visible from there - but it's a bunch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dee_Wright_Observatory Then it was down Hwy 126 to McKenzie Bridge, down the Aufderheide to Oakridge, then back up the Cascade Lakes Hwy to Bend. What fantastic scenery. Checking out the 2014 N.A. Honda demo bike in Bend Another shot of the group at the Mt. Washington viewpoint, Hwy 242 just outside of Sisters, OR. Bart Madsen from Motorcycle USA rode with the group as part of his review of the 2014. This example had about 2,000 miles on it while here. From R to L, members bikes are: Chasing Nolan 4th Gen FSAE 6th Gen RWB VFore 4th Gen jimbob 6th Gen Axel_7 / Tammy 6th Gen Bart Madsen 2014 Demo bike Radar / Huckleberry 6th Gen Bizbat 7th gen Choco 6th Gen Cogswell 6th Gen Bart and Huckleberry check out the new bike. Mt Washington in the background - what beautiful country! The 2014 flanked by jimbob and Radar's 6th gens Axel_7 & Tammy in Bend, ready to head for home. Summit of McKenzie Pass on Hwy 242. What a fun ride!!
  5. Cogs back home safely. Lots of you are still out there - especially the ones from Canada with so far to go to get home. Check in when you're back. Shiny side up. Cheers
  6. Topping off a great ride and great people with some McMenamins IPA. The group got to ride with the Motorcycle USA editor testing the 2014 Honda demo bike - there should be a write up coming about the '14 which may feature the Oregon Trail meet with photo's. Stay tuned!
  7. Choco - see if this looks right to you - it appears that after going through the curves that at the town of Rowena we'll get back on I-84, continue past The Dalles getting off at exit 97 and continuing on to turn south on to 206. No matter what 206 is like, it will be better than grinding down from Biggs on 97 with all the trucks, traffic, etc. http://goo.gl/maps/KVmB9 Also, presuming this is all correct, note that on Google maps Celilo-Wasco Hwy is co-named "Fulton Canyon Road". A Google street view shows the signage at the turnoff says "Fulton Canyon Rd - Wasco 206", which could be confusing if we're looking for "Celilo-Wasco Rd" sign. http://goo.gl/maps/ztIXg
  8. Go to Gallery>Ride Icons (about 1/2 way down the page), choose the one you want and copy the link in to your profile.
  9. In his article he said . . . "Fire the Interceptor to life and riders are greeted with a familiar V-Four cadence. I can’t vouch for improvements compared to the 2008 model, as I haven’t ridden the latter model . . . " I can supply him with just such a model year for his comparison (even has ABS and will have some brand new PR2's on it). Does that put me in contention? :smile2:
  10. That is odd. I suppose if someone shows up on a white '14 it will solve the mystery. If not, I would like find out about the top secret VFR rally he refers to. He seems to be only one who knows about it.
  11. I picked up the exact same set up from Josh a while back. You'll be glad you installed both - good stuff.

Agreed - very nice looking bike and the riding gear goes with it well too.
  13. Kill switch - either off or needs cleaning? Maybe shoot some contact cleaner in, cycle the switch a couple of times and see what happens.
  14. Personally I like the option of an "On Off On" (single pole, dual throw) switch which allows me to also force the fan off in addition to forcing it on, That way when I get moving I can turn the fan off and not fight the airflow which cools things off quicker. There is the danger though of forgetting to turn it back on - sitting at a stop watching the temp climb. But there's equal danger in forgetting to turn it back to normal operation too - running down the road at 70 with the fan forced on - see my earlier post above. (DOH!). Either way requires situational awareness and management of the fan. Not a big deal once you get used to it.
  15. Welcome Pumee. First order of business . . . we need some photos! The white 5th gen in your avatar looks very 3rd gen 1993ish - we'd love to see more. Have you considered buying overseas? I did a quick ebay search for RC51 forks and there's a complete set, for $150 US listed now. I've bought parts out of the UK and had them shipped to the US. The shipping isn't cheap, but it could end up cheaper than buying what you're looking for at home. There could be duties or tariffs though, so good to check on that first. Just a thought . . .
  16. Will there be a logo for this event for our signatures?
  17. Looks like there are a number of both R and L 'Bird units on ebay available - some say "or best offer", so maybe a deal can be had. When I search, I use the "-" to weed out things I don't want, such as "-end -ends -slider", etc . That weeds out all the listings for bar ends and boils it down closer to just what I'm looking for.
  18. +1. I've read on the XX forum where owners use VFR clipons as a swap. Apparently they're an inch taller than the XX's, so going the other direction s/b a more aggressive riding position. No idea about the fairing clearance with that though. http://www.cbrxx.com/body-paint-electrical-lights/16136-vfr-bar-up-grade.html
  19. Love hearing that! And good on Honda USA for taking care of you.

    3 Red ones again

Anyone would be proud to have 3 bikes that nice in their garage. Nice pic.
  22. For planning purposes, it would be good to review this construction alert for Highway 58 east of Oakridge. The highway has a tunnel that has become a real problem and there has been ongoing construction work on it for well over a year. It was supposed to be completed in 2013, but was not and construction has been suspended over the winter. Scheduled completion is now October, 2014. While construction has been going on, the highway has been closed at the tunnel location at night, and during daylight hours the waits have been as long as 45 mins to an hour this past summer. The location is about 23 miles East of where the ride will pick up Highway 58 at Oakridge. I wouldn't necessarily let it change the route, but at least the group will be prepared for delays. Map (point "B" - approximate) http://goo.gl/maps/tfCmT Here's the construction alert http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/REGION2/Pages/OR58_salt_creek_tunnel.aspx http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/REGION2/docs/area5/OR%2058%20SCT%20Extended%20release.pdf.
