  1. I did a lot of research before purchasing my Caberg Justissimo modular. It was the only one at the time with the highest test rating (5) out of dozens of modulars tested. The latching system is metal to metal - no plastic involved, and held firm during the crash tests. I've done 800+ mile days with it. I don't notice the weight, and being able to flip up the front when creeping through stop and go traffic with just the separate drop down sun shield in place has been a blessing on hot humid days. Also makes it easier to talk to someone at a light, and to take a swig out of a water bottle. I'm sold!
  2. I paired my G4 with my iPhone. I use my iPhone iPod feature for clear, wireless, stereo music. Works great! I rarely take calls while riding, though.
  3. I've been told that a slide down the asphalt with only jeans or shorts on is a lot hotter than a summer day in DC. I don't plan on testing this proposition, though.
  4. I glance over at my voltmeter every few minutes. Why? Because the charging system in these bikes sucks and I have had too many bad experiences as a result. I check my voltmeter more often than I check my speedometer, and even more often than I check my tach. If I could, I'd have it read out on a heads-up display on my face shield. But then I wouldn't be able to text message while riding. Life is full of compromises.
  5. I broke my right GSXR (EMGO?) lighted mirror stem in half. Where can I get a replacement? (sorry for the hi-jack)
  6. If you have time to ride it, take a look at Rte. 50. You could take it west to near St. Louis, and then take a route north to MN avoiding Chicago. I'm going to give Rte. 50 a try on my way back from Mid-Ohio to PA this year.
  7. My bro and I are finally going to buy a No-Mar tire changer. We're thinking the Jr Pro® Ultimate Package would be the one to get. What do you think? Anything else we should get with it? Thanks for any advice you can give.
  8. Slammer - Can't you provide some better detail? Nice, and very helpful.
  9. For touring, I've been looking at these Sidi On Road GoreTex boots. Nice and high and don't look like ballerina slippers. $325.00. Or these TCX Infinity GTX Boots, ~$360.00.
  10. Nice! I keep a cap in my side case (or tank bag) similar to the one below. It has three LEDs that light up at a pinch of the brim. Very bright light directed right at where you're looking. Great for doing anything (well almost anything) in the dark. Under $20.00. Also good for hiding helmet hair.
  11. Wow, not sure if you can even buy that anymore. There's been a movement away from solvent based paints over the last 2-3 years, more and more companies & businesses are switching to waterborne paints. Also a trend towards HVLP delivery (often mandated). But I did find this, so evidently Imron is still a viable product. For over 25 years, Imron® has proven its staying power. Imron® polyurethane enamel is the top-of-the line finish for trucks, commercial vehicles, aircraft, boats, industrial applications and specialty vehicles that demand unsurpassed gloss, durability and chemical resistance. It’s no wonder asset owners and refinishers rely on it for peak performance over the long haul. To top it off, Imron® is available in a nearly limitless variety of colors.
  12. You have an artistic eye and a way with words. Your spelling, grammar, and punctuation are superb, seemingly all lost arts these days. I look forward to every chapter. Be careful out there!
  13. IMRON paint used to be very popular back in the day for frames and the like. Very hard and durable, and impervious to most solvents. If you can spray it yourself (highly toxic), it may be a cost effective alternative. But powder coating seems to be quite reasonable these days, so maybe IMRON is a thing of tha past (like me).
  14. I have these on my '98. I have them on extenders and the view is excellent. They work well, but vibrate just very very slightly at speed so it's hard to tell if that car tracking me way back there is a cop or not. Also, I just broke one in half by accidentally walking right into it when I turned around quickly in the garage, so they are a bit chintzy.
  15. I've got about 1-1/2 years on my Wal-Mart battery (made by YUASA), and so far so good. I signed on for one of the MOTYs, though, which should arrive shortly. I'm going to take it along on long trips as a spare until my Wally World unit croaks.
  16. Just curious why having it move with the steering is a problem? I've had mine this way for maybe 7,000 miles or so, and have not had one problem. Am I missing something?
  17. Looks like a shot of the Trans-Labrador Highway mid-winter. I'm planning that 3,200 mile ride right now, but not in the Winter!
  18. I don't like anything blocking my view of the gauge pod, so I have my Sirius Radio on my clutch reservoir and my GPS on my brake reservoir. That way, I can easily see everything at a glance.
  19. For some reason my wife likes the vibration that is transmitted to the pillion seat. Go figure.
  20. I want one. But now I have to buy the HD version of the camera (I have the original version). About $380.00 total for the camera and BacPac, I think. Not cheap, but I'll likely do it anyway.
  21. Here's what I use with my Nuvi 680:
  22. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't change the rear until the shiny steel cords are showing.
  23. The placebo effect.
  24. Incredibly low price, and with more features than the Pazzos. I already have Pazzos, but would have tried these first if I'd known about them. Nice find!

    Replacement Grips

The stock grips feel as thin as a pencil to me. I just installed Koso heated grips and they are just the right diameter. I'll slip Grip Puppies over them for long rides (for comfort).
