  1. Why didn't I think of that??? What a great idea. I agree that some jobs require proper tools, but jobs like this one can certainly be done in any number of ways with the same results.
  2. Dutchy has made a very good point. Meet with Nigerian representatives from Honda, show purchase receipts and any other pertinent documents, in other words, make sure that there is no question of legitimacy. Then, enlist Nigerian H reps in reaching out to Honda UK. It would be in Honda's best interest to act in good faith and show that it stands by its products and its customers. Especially since this particular bike is the flagship of the brand and commands hefty price of admission.
  3. That sucks! I hope you have warranty coverage for this. I'd be interested in finding out if anyone else has reported a similar issue. Best of luck to you in getting this sorted out.
  4. It's a cool toy. Install it if it makes you feel better. There are three drawbacks to motorcycle alarms. 1 - They draw power and you are running a risk of having a flat battery if you don't ride for a while 2 - They don't deter theft or vandalism. In fact, I can picture a scenario when someone would touch the bike out of curiosity, get startled by the proximity alarm and kick the bike over out of... whatever... 3 - They cost money.
  5. AMEN to that! I polished the rear wheel of my VFR... Once... Will never do it again - Complete waste of time that just keeps on 'wastin. IMHO.
  6. Is that 68 bucks for one or for both? Regardless, a motorcycle wheel may or may not spin at 2200 RPM at the furthest point in its diameter. I don't want to do the math or eat pie this early in the morning, but I bet that at the race, it spins MUCH slower. Even if it did spin at 2200 rpm, I'd still say that it's one of those mods you would do for your own pleasure, knowing full well that there is not going to be any practical gain.
  7. Make absolutely tripple sure that all the bolts are off. Then take a large screwdriver and find some tabs to pry it off - it is stuck to the gasket. Use your judgement to how hard you wana pry.
  8. 06 should have an upgraded rotor. I just changed my stator and left the rotor in place. With new stator and some upgrades to the charging system (extra grounds, beefier charging wires and direct soldering instead of plug connectors, I get excellent charging at all RPMs with all of my lights, fan and heaters on high.
  9. No personal experience here, but it seems that all the work you do to customize the bike isn't going to increase its value. Probably just the opposite. This seems to be the rule except those rare examples where the bike is simply a work of art. People who are looking for frankenbikes typically aren't interested in someone else's vision of what the bike should be. Others are not interested in any mods at all. So, your work will be a labor of love and the best thing to do with it would be to park the bike as a conversation piece. If you must get rid of it, expect to lose some money. This is my personal opinion. Your results may vary.
  10. How many miles per year do you ride? bout 15 to 20,000 mile in slow years, higher in better years. Once the bike has 15,000 mile filter runs very clean, my 06 vfr has over 90,000 miles. Nice!

  12. In response to Seb's POCoughHoing... I've recently installed some and, of course, love'em. My only area of concern is that the side stand will prolly be the second point to touch down after the left feeler. And once it does, it will lever the rear tire off the road. Just a word of caution. If you want to scrape some $hit, take BLS stuff off. They are meant to ease the pain of 'slabbin.
  13. Just got home. Had wonderful time. This is the best therapy imaginable. Great bunch of people and the roads kept us all on our toes. Just what the doctor ordered. Big thanks to Seb and Brian for making this happen! I have some pics which I will post later.
  14. Question. How slow is the slow group going to ride? One of my friends has a... some sorta cruiser - V2, light bar, bags, huge windshield, etc... He asked if he could come, but he doesn't like turning... I guess I am answering my own question here
  15. My wife calls me to say that her mother arrives tomorrow from the 'old country' for her annual 'stay in my house and bust my chops' fest. To which I respond that I am leaving Friday and coming back Sunday She didn't have the balls to argue Now, to book a room... See ya clowns Friday night!
  16. Well, if you gona do it, make sure that you pick the ones with diffuser at the top. If you don't you will have some very bright spots shining through. Those things are BRIIIIGHT! And if you try to use dremel to create said diffuser after you've soldered them in, they will come out along with the track of the PCB. Ask me how I know... P.S. I'm not sure about lower wattage. Same voltage, same resistance (achieved by using extra resistor) = same wattage. No?
  17. Why LEDs? Other than 'coz you can of course. I've done it on my Silverado - Blue. Don't ask. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Ton of work and now I wish I didn't. Still have a bunch of blue LEDs and resistors laying around.
  18. Same here. I'm prolly be arriving Friday night and leaving either Sat night or early Sunday morning. That will depend on the amount of 'fun' Saturday night.

  20. :+1: Been using eBay almost from its inception with very little issues. Do your homework before buying and all will be OK. Thanks for the heads-up.
  21. Assuming that your engine is fine, which it prolly is, and also assuming that the valvetrain is identical, ditto that, wouldn't it be easier to swap the harness? Not stating. Just thinking out loud.
  22. Two positions - Low and High. You can't turn it off completely w/o the use of a hammer I owned an 02 and understand your frustration. Now, that I have an 06, here are my observations: - The low throttle response still sucks. - Everything else, like VTEC is much improved. What I did on my 02 to remedy the low rpm issues was to install Turbo City FPR, plug the PAIR system and eliminated the O2 sensors. That made fuel economy poor but helped tremendously with the low rpm issues. VTEC I just got used to. To battle the low RPM issues in the 06, I installed this progressive cam throttle thingy, which helped out enough that it doesn't annoy me any more.
  23. Glad you like your mods. On a side note, the fact that your original chain was crap is the cause of "sympathetic harmonic motor cadence/drive chain oscillations" that you've experienced. Not its mass. You did save some poundage and the taller gearing will help extend service life of the 520 chain. Enjoy.
