  1. Thanks Rusty, went and had a look at those part numbers. 53300-MCJ-000 is listed as the upper triple, however I also found 53300-MCJ-D10... which suggests the same part, according to the ronayers fiche, but slightly cheaper... Surely there's a different apart from price. HDL has them separated as 2002 and 2003 resprectively. ??? Is this the one you're talking about Pete? The D10 part? The same can be said with the RC51 lower, three part numbers, two are the same in terms of price (not sure of the difference) and the other has a different price (maybe SP1 and SP2) 53219-MCF-000 53219-MCF-D00 53219-MCF-D30 ?
  2. Thanks for this thread, kinda put off by ebay bits now
  3. I experiemented with a drill once... a la blackbird style. Like I said... once

  7. I'm liking the discussion fellas. I could be totally wrong on this, but comparing the electric water pump's power usage on the VFR to a generator is not similar, as there is a battery involved. The stator is just there to replenish the battery, which is powering everything, whereas a generator simply makes electricity directly. I don't know what the generator does with the surplus energy (earthed?) but I'm pretty sure it's a slightly different system. Therefore there shouldn't be a noticable load on the stator, just the battery. Kaldek raises an important issue about sitting at the lights idling when you need the pump working its best. Hence once fitted you may need to vary the idle in order to meet the pumps drain on the battery and ensure the stator is up to the task without having to adjust too high an idle rpm. Does the pump give any specs to power usage? I think if the pump runs at a set rpm all the time you could set it up fairly easily, depending if the stator is up to the job of keeping the battery at a nice level. Phantom, why would you want the pump to switch off? Radiators work at higher speeds, but if coolant isn't flowing it seems odd to want to shut it off. Also, is it possible to control the engine rpms (with the controller) if the pump has variable speeds? (like aircon)
  8. We have it in Oz too. It is cheaper than most motorcycle specific brands that are common here, so I thought I would try also. Have only ran 2500 kms... probably common, but it's very similar to the Motul 5100, in how the engine runs, cools and warms up... but at half the price of the 'tul. So far no complaints, but have yet to drain. There has been a sudden markup in MC oils in the past year here. So Im changing cheaper, but more often, overall happy with the performance. Think I'll be back for more. Quick update here... drained this morning, it's all black and dark, it wasn't like that when it went in  Just been through your typical Queensland summer and I see little difference from the previous oil - Motul 5100. Bike did run slightly cooler than I remember, never saw past 108c in the peakhour city outrun test, with 1 year old coolant. No leaks or blowby. Drained clear, no froth, or separated materials. Might have to stock up when it comes on special

  14. It doesn't score brownie points down south either; at a rest stop on the 2002 Snowy Ride the po-leeece wandered over and had a chat with AB about it  2002 ??? Ok forget brownie points... The QLD government would own the bike by now.
  15. Nice one AB. Gotta love the woolly sheep, err I mean seat. Though that fender won't get ya brownie points up here. I can't tell, but do ya want a set of blank-offs for the franken slots?

  20. With your gauges still working, and already thinking how long it will take to install.. is it possible to make up your own dash, and slip your old gauges in, but give it a minimal look, something straight forward and racey. Not sure about the 4th Gens, or the legailties of what you must have on a dash... anyway Your picture had me thinking about your lights... Maybe rounds in the corners {largest opening} and those triangle indicators... picture is too small, but you get the idea. Just my 0.05 cents.... Good luck
  21. Niiice colour and teaser shots  Are you putting any stickers on?
