poster celebrating Mick Doohan's 4th 500cc GP Championship in a row
  2. So now you need to find a 35mm Ti axle nut or your VFR will be unbalanced
  3. From the album: my VFRs

I bought this tidy '92 VFR750 in late 2004. I swapped on a spare grey seat and changed the decals to the Euro version. Lovely light that afternoon at Beacon Hill park in Victoria, BC.
  4. From the album: my VFRs

I bought this mint '91 VFR750 in March of 1993, and a day later took the long route home. Stopped in Bremerton, Wash., for some shots alongside these navy ships. BB-62, battleship New Jersey is the only one I am sure of, but I believe that it was flanked by the carriers CVS-12 Hornet, and CV-41 Midway.

    From the album: my trips

Stopped near Tehachapi, California to snag a photo of the wind farm. Back in 1994 these were a pretty uncommon sight.

    From the album: my trips

Lunch stop en route to the 1994 GP at Laguna Seca. This was the last hurrah for the 2-smoke Grand Prix in America. Alice's is at the junction of La Honda road & Skyline Blvd, just south of San Francisco.

Thanks for the kind words. My '98 VFR800 replaced a VTR1000F which replaced a '91 VFR750. I loved all three but my fave of all was the yellow '99 VFR800 that replaced it. Much as I love my '09 VTec it hasn't captured my heart. More than once I've perused the want ads looking for another '98-'01 800. Maybe one day…

    Rest stop photo opp

No worries, the Laser took their cue from the MV Augusta F4 - not a bad role model.

Lovely, sunset-at-the-beach shot. Is that a Laser exhaust set? Unusual in America, methinks.

You are fortunate to live in such a fantastic looking part of the world.
  12. That's scary looking dirt road, that is. One time on a similar road the mud stuck to the tires and clogged the fender - thankful I was in a p/u.

At a clear-cut nearing Port Renfrew on Hwy 14. Looking across Juan de Fuca Straight at the tip of Washington State.
  15. Very sorry to hear that, Rob. A couple years ago, while parking his KTM 990 it fell away from him. When he tried to hold it he ended up tearing the tendon of his right bicep. Bad news: he missed a couple months of riding season. Good news: complete recovery. Ps. he was older than you ?

Lovely shot of Monitor Pass, one of my favourite roads in NorCal.

    Big Hole db.jpg

Gotta ask where this is. Good on you guys for navigating past this big divot. On my trip this summer we had to pass on Angeles Crest Hwy because of a much smaller sinkhole near Wrightwood.
  18. Ruh roh, hope everything downstream of the tank is ok - primarily the injectors. Any thoughts n how the tank got in such a state?

    The Races

I see you have a map on the front mudguard to lead you in the right direction.
  20. Your photo reminds me why I like to take long trips, especially over twisty mountain roads.
  21. I see that red continues to be the dominant VFR colour Where in Colorado is that? I've been to the state a couple of times but definitely don't recognize the location.
  22. Every good ride comes to an end, but not always under such glorious skies.

A good looking bike in a great setting.

A very enigmatic photo - indicative of some doubt on the sale?
  25. HS, years ago I noticed a significant amount of oil in my VFR750's airbox. Never did figure out the cause (overfilling the oil?) as it only happened the one time. It might be something as simple on your 1200.
