  1. In U.S, traffic laws don't apply on private property. So cops aren't too interested. Especially if it doesn't make them money like traffic citations. It becomes a civil matter. So you'd have to take them to court to recover cost for damages. Even then getting them to pay is another matter that requires collections. Horrible!!!
  2. I've had my VF500F since '86. As ignorant teenager, I abused it with whatever cheapo oil was on sale. About 15-yrs later I learned my lessons and have used Mobil-1 ever since. It's got 40k-miles on it valvetrain still looks brand-new. Have to stay on top of checking valve-clearances. A lot of failures reported are due to maintenance issues.
  3. The 1986 VF500F had those enhancements as well. You can tell from longer cams (~20mm wider), wider head to hold those cams, and wider cam-covers on head (with half-moon gaskets). Not sure outside California or U.S., but '86 had milder cam-specs and engine had about 2-3bhp less output. Smaller carbs too.
  4. Yeah, you don't want to use auto-tune with factory O2-sensor in load-zones higher than 80% due to limited 14.7:1 resolution. You'll need richer mixtures in those zones and max-power is generated at ~13.5:1. Not to mention that +/- variations will be much tighter with wideband. Many modern autos use wideband O2-sensor and can hold 14.7:1 at WOT all way to redline. But that's with exact 14.7:1 mixtures whole way, not +/- 10% variations. The 10-20 revolutions of engine at 16.0:1 before correction is enough to cause ping/knocking/detonation and blown head-gaskets.
  5. Awesome paint job!!! Really gives bike modern look! :)
  6. Horrible news! Sorry to hear about your troubles! Glad you and family are OK and bike looks great! Yeah, that tow-truck driver needs his knee-caps kicked in!
  7. Owned one of these couple decades back. Replaced it with CBR600RR which was faster by about 5s/lap at Laguna Seca and Thunderhill

  10. Very nice! Do you get any rusting keeping it outdoors? On nuts, bolts, brackets?

  12. Just ran across this on another forum. Here's picture of zener-diode installed on factory switch. Black-end/stripe faces +12v input power. Output end goes to pink wire and supplies +9v to keep ECU happy that it's not being hot-wired. There have been many people who've tried to install diode on non-OEM ignition-switch, got it backwards, and bike won't work. It's not resistor like on Kawasakis, but diode and orientation matters. Some background on how zener-diodes work: https://www.circuitbread.com/tutorials/what-is-a-zener-diode-and-how-does-it-work If you don't want to worry about which way diode connects, use 1k-ohm resistor 1/4w instead.
  13. So you've saved just over 1-kg from front wheel! That's pretty amazing!!!
  14. Woohoo!!!! Did you happen to weigh it before mounting?
