  1. I've just put my Tail Tidy on ebay if you are interested, UK only. Sold the bike now.
  2. I have gone over to the dark side, I made a mistake of test riding a BMW... First of all rode a R1200RS - not that much different to a VFR, in fact I preferred my VFR, however then the salesman suggested I test ride a R1200GS, after two hours I was smitten and now having parted with a great deal of cash, own a GS. If only Honda could offer me a bike with a few more HP and decent suspension..... PS build quality of the BMW is not as good as the VFR
  3. Sorry guys but the VFR has gone, had three great years with it, probably the best bike Honda never really promoted. Just needed a bit more R&D spending on it and more advertising. One day I will buy another, probably on my retirement. Been a good forum thanks for the info and laughs, see you all later. Carlos
  4. I have a used one for sale, good condition, they stand up well to a UK winter, PM me with your best offer (sorry Uk only) otherwise it goes on eBay.....
  5. The more I ride the VFR, the more I love it. Test drove a BMW R1200RS recently, lovely bike but the Honda was more involving. Just done nearly 1500 miles in a week around Scotland, VFR was lovely, why o why is this not a bigger seller? It has character, it is fast enough, needs to be rev'd to keep up with the big boys but it will take it, handles well - get some decent tires on it (Metzeler Roadtec 01's) takes luggage well. Good fuel consumption (UK Gallons - not your US short measure). Why does Honda not promote this bike more? More profit on the other stuff? Just love the bike.......
  6. Buy, buy, buy, best tires I have ever tried. Stable, comfortable, improves the suspension. Just had a trip through Scotland, fantastic roads and wet or dry always 100% confident. Not cheap but seem to be wearing well after 2,000 miles, got a trip to Assen next to see the Moto GP, will certainly last the distance.
  7. mmm, managed to drop the bike off its side stand, I thought it was in gear. Not much damage as is went down slowly, however when I managed to pick it up again, (with the help of some bikers who stopped, thanks guys!) I noticed the gear lever had broken off, doh. The quickshifter has a cast lug where the rubber fits on and looks like a weak point. I am now in the Scottish borders, 400 miles from home and no gear lever - Luckily the Honda tool kit has an answer - see photos, a spanner (wrench to you guys over the pond) and a screwdriver saved the day. It lasted another 1,000 miles until I got home a week later! When I did get home, Honda do not sell the lever separately, so rather than spend a fortune on a complete set, managed to drill and tap a hole and screw a replacement in. Now when I go away, i will take the original gear lever with me..... Carlos
  8. I have bought a NextBase Bike Cam and I am looking for ideas on how to mount it (perhaps I should have thought of this BEFORE I bought it!). https://www.nextbase.co.uk/dashcams/ride-motorcycle-bikecam/ I think in the USA it is called a DOD HUMMER https://www.amazon.com/DOD-TECH-HUMMER-BikeCam-Action/dp/B01LAW3KFS I have a TomTom mounted in the fork stem so can't use that. Only thing i can think of is to mount it on a mirror stem. Has anyone found a good way of mounting a Bike Cam or camera on a VFR?
  9. Thanks but all sold out at Geert Timmer, looks like it will be popular at the Moto GP this year! Managed to get seats in Haarbocht. Prices are not too bad - you should try coming to Silverstone! Next job, try to find a hotel...........
  10. We are going to the Moto GP in Assen in June, however as we have never been there before, anyone know the best grandstand to be in for the best view of the action? some are selling out fast!
  11. I have used the SW Motech stuff for a few years now (Quick Lock) good quality and secure, you do loose some space internally due to the attachment and I do put an anti slip tool mat under the bag to stop it rubbing the paint. Previously I always used Baglux, good quality kit. http://shop.sw-motech.com/en/by+motorbike+or+scooter/HONDA/VFR+800+F/index.htm I always keep my camera kit in here as I don't like it in my top case
  12. I am definately going to have a test ride when they become available, however sitting on one at a bike show, two things concern me, you seem 'trapped' into the seat and the view of the cockpit area looks cheap compared with the VFR. the answer will be in the riding, having had Ducati's before; make sure you do ride before buying, they can be 'lumpy' at lower revs.
  13. Having lived with the quick shifter for a year now, then I am happy to comment. I don't usually use it for first to second, nor when just ambling around, works best when accelerating, otherwise you can use the gear change and clutch as normal. Worked well when chasing bigger bikes on a run out! I tried a BMW R1200RS Sport SE, now that quick shift worked much better, slicker and you could use in on downshifts, it blipped the throttle (nice!) So the Honda one is OK, but limited and not really worth the investment, its a 'nice to have' but like a lot of things with the bike (traction control?) it seems a bit of an after thought and not fully integrated. BTW, having ridden the BMW, I thought the Honda to be far more involving, so I didn't trade up. i just need a an extra 20bhp and some decent electronics, C'mon Honda
  14. Maybe one of these may help? http://www.aerostich.com/e-z-fill-nozzle-key.html We don't have that trrouble here in the UK
  15. Interesting description - Joyride in the UK means you stole it, and then rode like a nutter until you crashed it. Nice to see we still use the same language with different meanings! https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/joyride vive la difference
