  1. Rob - I wish I could. Some family health issues (not mine) have me off the bike - it's parked for the summer. :( I'll check on the dates - if the they work, I might be able to sneak out to Troutdale for evening festivities. It would be great to see everyone. Curry
  2. Rob, You set the bar so high with the mods on the gen 5, you'll have a challenge to top your own work! Also, glad (and not surprised) to see you stayed in the GDC family! Looking forward to following this.

    Utah 9/10

I made the same trip through in 2013 on - on my '08 6th gen . . . At first thought it was my photo - looked for a moment and though "wait, no - that's not mine!" LOL Great place to ride. Everyone should get there at least once.
  4. From Google maps. The "directions" function was only used to mark the location. Location here Street view
  5. Klickitat loop off SR-14 - Mt Adams in the background.

Since the OP hasn't signed in since 2012, it doesn't seem likely we'll find out just exactly where this was taken. :(

    Milky Way

Everyone should see the Milky Way on a night like that. Truly humbling to see how small we are in the universe. Love that photo. If you might indulge a few other questions - for the 30 second exposure, do you carry a tripod on the bike and if not, how do steady the camera? Also, with an f2.8, how do you get depth of field to keep the subject and the stars both in focus? Please keep these coming! Cheers
  8. Looks like the RWB Batallion!
  9. So many legendary 51's. P51 . . . Area 51. . . and of course RC51. Lots of good company!
  10. I find it surprising a dealer would sell a bike with a known recall outstanding. These days most dealers are concerned about liability associated with such a thing and won't let them out of their sight until it's corrected. Glad it went smoothly for you.
  11. The weather in the Pac NW has been cooler than normal for July - a touch wetter here and there - but perfect riding weather. Forecast except for tomorrow is more of the same. I rode OR 34 to Waldport and back about 10 days ago - almost no traffic on a weekday. What a road - the twisties over the summit are a treat. Sounds like you're having a fantastic trip! Post some photos if you can. Cheers
  12. There is road construction 16 miles (27k) East of you on OR 20, that runs for about 5 miles (8k). Delays may run up to about 20 mins. Shouldn't be a big deal but always good to be expecting it. More info here and here.
  13. Hello Rusty.

I'm writing to ask a question.  In late 2010 / 2011 I was part of the buy of Dan's (A&A) supercharger kit for the 6th gen.  In chatting with him while getting ready to purchase it, we were talking and he mentioned a couple of other VFRD members that were purchasing the kit.  For whatever reason, your name stuck in my memory.  There were a few others but I don't recall now who they were.  If I'm incorrect in that recollection, my apologies for bugging you.  At any rate, I had never gotten around to installing it and through some unfortunate circumstances sold it.  I was wondering if you might still have yours, maybe similar - something you never got around to diving in to.  If so and you would entertain a discussion about trading it, I would be interested.

    Many thanks

    Helmet Lock

I've never tried swapping them, but something tells me they're not going to be a direct fit. I've seen these in person. They look nice and not at all obvious they're a lock. At least beats putting a helmet over a mirror. http://www.barender.com/productInfo.php Here was another solution someone came up with for the 6th gen.
  15. Youtube has lots of videos on suspension set up that should help you.
  16. Any chance to get the broken links fixed? I'm about to do a search, but for the ease of other newcomers it would be nice to have the links work again. These just take me to the homepage. It may be that those posts have been purged. Going to the end of the modifications section, there's only a handful prior to 2006. The generations sections were recently purged to no more than 600 days old, so many links there are no longer working, either.
  17. Like classic bikes, some threads never go out of style . . .
  18. The intensity of the blue color of Crater Lake can only be experienced in person - incredible. Nice photo!
  19. I used Custom Rewind for my 6th gen stator. Still working great. Cost was a bit over $100.
  20. Epic story - great read. A bittersweet ending for sure. Will you be instructing at The Ridge in July? I've been thinking about attending the school for several years - may get to it in '16. Haven't decided if I'd want to flog the VFR or use one of the school's bikes. Cheers
  21. Just guessing - maybe similar to Whitehouse.com - folks innocently thinking they're going to see the schedule for the Chief Executive's residence, and find out it's a whole lot of something else . . . . For 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, it's Whitehouse.gov . . .
  22. I'm sort of happy about this. Riding is a lot better and safer with the Number One Wingman. I hope it works out MM. (Assuming you'll still ride with me. ) Terry - I'll ride with 'ya any time!
