Metallican525 replied to spud786's topic in Sixth Generation VFR's

I have been curious if it has been tried and if it worked tho so keep us updated Spud and thanks!! -
Unchain My Bike... Or So I Thought...
Metallican525 replied to BusyLittleShop's topic in Modifications
If you just cracked the mystical VFR belt driven code I'm about to get reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaalyyy excited!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us in the loop there Nunux59, and welcome!! -
This counts for a modification right.................yeah sure it does. Mods feel free to move if innappropriate for this section. As a side note, if you're a wiseass like me , and ride with streamers on your bike after your buddies do this, mylar does infact come off onto other things, like paint, oops!

Huntinggunns 2012 Build Thread

Nice bike, moar pics of sales girl please............................. -
All three of those filters fit the same engine???
-
Good point CandyRed, didn't think about the times I get on the highway right after getting outta heavy traffic. Of course, if she's still too hot @ 70, maybe more speed is required..............
-
I did a similar if not the same mod to mine so I can turn it on early sitting in traffic. The hotter she gets the hotter everything else gets (frame etc) and makes it take waaaaaaaay longer to cool back down. I don't really see the point in being able to turn it off, that sounds like a recipie for over cooking engines when you inevitable forget you turned it off or bumped the switch without knowing. An indicator of some sort would be nice to know when you have the switch turned on but I didn't see the need and just used a simple switch I had laying around that would handle 30A (maybe 20A, don't remember now, I figured if it got hot I needed a better switch, no issues so far). To shorten up this statement a bit, I think a Tightwad fan override kit would be a good addition to your current arsenal of VFR farkles and sell well as much as VFR's run hotter than the sun!

8 spoke cheap, HA, good luck. Allmost everyone that has one knows the draw for it and what all it will fit it seems, haven't seen one start out bidding/for sale under 200, and that's not nearly what they seem to sell for. Best bet is to scour your local salvage yards and camp out on some on ebay hoping the seller dosen't know what they have and nobody else sees it.

Soooo, not even in the running for ugly. Pretty good lookin I'd say. Don't think I could rock the pink/black wheel combo, but it kinda looks sharp against a primer grey bike!

Tis a common problem with them seat latches. Take the bolt back out and put some blue locktite on it, then re-install. Should take care of your problem completely.
-
We're gonna need more info than that, the spacer thingie shouldn't make a huge difference really. The "snap" sound you heared was likely the piston setteling back into place in the slave cylinder. Clutches are a .............challenge to bleed sometimes, how did you bleed it?

Saw that, watery grave lol Damn, I knew I shoulda had mine up in the classifieds!!! Anybody else need a set?? PM me <threadjack completed>

Maybe I am missing something here, but with the linked brakes isn't this impossible? Linked brakes only activate the rear when a substantial ammount of force is applied to the LF caliper by way of moderate to hard braking. This sort of braking cannot really be applied from a standstill. The rears at best would drag a little bit but no where near keep the rear from spinning.

I did not realize that your 4 way valve was able to shut down the individual ports, based on your explination I think you've found a pretty good inexpensive way to make a 4 cyl manometer for yourself, good job sir and thank you for sharing!!!

Nuther +1 here for Carbtune, That Suzi one looks pretty nice tho too G
-
+1, in stereo even. But even adjusting them individually one at a time would either take forever or just plain not work as the cylinders will affect eachother as you adjust, that's why there's a factory set cylinder that is not adjustable giving you a baseline to match the other cylinders to.
-
Yes, inquiring minds need more pics of your setup as you're supposed to be using essentially four seaparate vacuum gauges to adjust three of them to match the one factory set cylinder.

1984 Cb700Sc: Retro Bike Project
Metallican525 replied to spacetiger's question in Modification Questions
Oh hell yes!!! Big brakes look fantastic, and I bet they work even better. -
If the tires, chain, oil, coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid, and all brakes are NEW, then yes it's a good deal and I'd say jump on it. Outside of that 1600 is still a wee bit high for the bike. It really is a judgment call on your part as to how bad you want a 500, but for my money I'd pass, especially if there's bad paint on it.

His asking price is too high. Offer him 1k and let him talk you up some. If he's not willing to budge, pass. While clean examples are getting harder to find, lower mileage ones are all over and with a little TLC they'll be just as good. There have been a few popping up lately, barn finds, that are damn near new condition, some not running but for much less.
