  1. Get some ABS pipe adhesive, the stuff used for joining drain pipes ABS plastic sheet is available from eBay, 2 mm thick, cut into strips and glued on the inside of the fairing while you hold the crack together Acetone can then be carefully placed in the crack on the outside and then press it shut, hold for 5 minutes and repeat as required, I use a syringe to avoid problems I’ve repaired several panels that were in pieces and one had a 8” square chunk missing

  2. It’s my plan to keep it slow on the straights and push real hard in the corners with this little bike. My idea of a fun little commuter bike. I’m retired so it’s all about the cheap thrills at this point in my life.

  3. I had a 750 before, this is my first 500. I actually got 2 more bikes with this deal: an 85 and an 86. I really like your bike and may just leave this one as is because, aside from the tank that needs fixing it’s in really good shape. The other 85 is also in really good shape so I could go through the 86 motor (valve job hone and rings), put it in the 85 along with the f3 forks, f2 wheels, VFR front calipers, a new shock, some bits and bobs then give it a nice 86 paint job like yours (I’m building a new paint booth in my new shop) and have 2 nice baby ceptors. I did go through your thread and many others on here before I bought the forks, wheels and brakes so I kind of had a plan, you just influenced it more in the 86 restomod direction, which is a good thing!

  4. Memore for speed... No matter what I tried, on a flat road, no taliwind, she would simply refuse to go over 200KMH (on GPS). 196 and that was it VFR750 246 RC51 285 1953 Gilera 91

  6. You may be able to just get a new side fairing in that color from Partzilla or a used one from eBay, dont forget that. I was able to get almost all new plastic for my 2002 in 2020. A lot of those parts in R157 red are no longer available NOS in 2023 though. Worth checking for matte black. Repair and repaint with colors from Colorite is also a good option. I did this for pieces I could not replace.

  7. AirTech Streamlining hooked me up. They make fiberglass/carbon fairings for nearly every bike in existence. Made in USA, and the folks there are legendary for their work on speed record bikes. They are located just outside San Diego

  8. Once you have a structural repair then you can use whatever you want, I like to use cellulose putty to get the panel to the point where I’ll put paint on it If it’s OEM colour then you can get paint fairly easily Chinese fairings fit where they touch, basically a last resort

  10. Welcome Charles... Before Mr.RC45 I had a love affair with my 86 VF500F Interceptor bought new from Golden Gate Cycles... I modified it extensively... Dymags... Billet Clutch basket... Exhaust and even converted the chain to belt... This became famous Belt-0-Ceptor... I racked up 98,000 trouble free miles... I sold it to my Air Force buddy up in White City Oregon... Home made Billet Clutch Basket My custom dash with Oh Shit warning... Sometimes being the littlest bike among the Big-Bad-Motors of Death can be a recipe for bruised egos...

  12. I certainly don't hate it, actually quite like it. I think the tail could be little longer. Also, I found this picture of a Marlbolo FZR400 with the correct tail size and similar paint for reference.. And to say it looks nothing like a tribute?...
