My 2Nd Motorcycle Ever, And I Go With An Old '86 Vfr700 Interceptor

Not the sanest choice for that first upgrade from your starter bike, but do you think I care?

Hell no!

I'm Will from Arizona and I just won off eBay a 1986 Honda VFR700 Interceptor in the glorious Red White and Blue paint scheme.

She's got 18,525 miles on her (that'll quickly add up when I get her!)

All original

Had the carbs rebuilt

Fluids and plugs are redone

Fork seals need replaced

Paint's got some slight issues and the fairings have had minor repairs done.

It's my very first REAL Sports/Sports Touring motorcycle and my very first upgrade. I've ridden my 2012 CBR250R for the past year and a half and while she can hang on the highway and can accelerate fairly well for a 250, she's still a little 250. Felt comfortable enough for something with a little more power and saw the late 80s VFR 700 and 750 Interceptors while surfing the internet and just fell in love. Saw this girl on eBay for the past couple of weeks and saw it hadn't sold. Was originally a Buy it Now/Best Offer posting, then went for a straight up auction. Didn't sell even after the buyer lowered the reserve and I put down $1650. Well the seller put it back up for a day for $1750 and I just said Screw It and bought the girl

I got a 7MGE in my car that shows signs of con rod bearing starting to be an issue, my MR2 needs a BOV or new factory BPV, I got some bills to pay but I just couldn't resist. You know those things that just happen for a reason that you can't explain and keep bugging the hell out of you?

This girl is one of them.

She's about 5 hours away right now in Nevada, but I'm hoping to get the fork seals done by the owner (who I'm grateful for offering to do them for a fee) and ride her down. Could always ship her and have a local place do it, but I just really can't resist and wait to ride!

Not planning on much, later down the road I'll strip her and paint her and redo the labels. First up will be upgrading the wheels to something with more of a tire selection than the OEM wheels (16" F and 18" R)

Other than that? Not a thing, I'll just be enjoying the hell out of her out on the Arizona roads.

Thanks!

Right now I'm just trying to read up on this CBR600F2 wheel upgrade and what's all needed. Saw the wheels on eBay going for $100 or so shipped for the fronts and rears for $125 or so shipped. But I did see on Craigslist a set for $35 a wheel, and I think it included the parts needed from the CBR. Only problem is it's from 2 months ago, but here's hoping the guy still has them!
