Lint
Here are some more pix. They are from the second day, Az to Arkansas. The pic at night of the front of my bike is from the night in Tucumcari Nm. The wind was so strong that it literally blew my tent flat over me. The flash caught the dust in the air. The all grey looking picture has a critter in it. See if you can spot it and what it is! Here are more pictures from the second day. I pulled over to get some cold water as Texas was very hot and the humidity was starting to kick in. Found this funky little post office/market/gas station and motel. Did I say it was hot? The wind throughout all of Texas and Oklahoma was blowing crossways with the highway. The entire way through BOTH states! Oh, and Texas has lots of bugs! By the way, babywipes make great visor cleaners and they easily fit right insiude a tank bag and, they dry clear and aren't $5 or $6 for a tiny package of streak makers like is sold at dealerships. Walmart or Target and they are CHEAP! These are the rest of the pics from the second day. They guy in the last pic with the dog is someone I met at a gas station along the way. He and his girlfriend were literally living on the road. Walking to and fro in the area, living in tents etc. I even saw them on the road on the way back, still in the same area, some three weeks later. Day four, Arkansas to Nashville!!!! I couldn't get a pic of the state sign, wasn't safe to pull over there. Not as many pics, as I was just trying to get there!!!! I got into the Arkansas KOA at around 10 or 11 p.m. Obviously no pics then. Also, no wind! But, a big as spider about 3 inches from my head when I lay down the first time! My motorcycle boot make quick work of it!The ducks were my welcoming committee in the morning! Came right up to me looking for food. I had none to share so they moved on. The roadwork. Oh how I love roadwork!!!! Can you say hot as **** and no wind or lane splitting?? WTH anyway. Practically everywhere else on the planet you can do this, but not in the land of the free? Go figure. The little stream was a stroke of luck. My right earplug wasn't so I puilled over to replace it and this is what I saw when I looked to my right! Last pic is finally at my brother's house! Yay not having to ride!!! Yay nice soft bed!!! The next set of pics is from my time there. We went to Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky. There aren't words nor pictures that do this place justice. You truly do have to experience it. It is just spectacular. Definitely put it on your bucket list of must do! More cave pics and stuff. Loosely covers my time there. My brother's cat is pretty much looking at me and saying, "you still here peasant?" I just noticed that the pic of my bike in the shed with my brother's Fatboy and my Dad's ape hangered Road King is out of sequence. That's where the bikes spent the night! At the Tail! Opryland Hotel! The funny thing about this pic is that under the sign I am holding, there was a napkin that had this written on it; "ha! I sat here! Now what are you going to do about it?" I'll add more later, I have short circuited this page with all of my pics.

Lint
Ha! After 2260 miles, I did smell funny! I literally had to wash my leathers in the washing machine by the time I got back!

Lint
My brother on the Dragon. His 2013 Fatboy did surprisingly well here. He removed a lot off of his floorboards, let me tell you! He is going to forward controls for more lean angle. My dad on his 2002 Harley Road King. The flexi frame couple with Ape Hangers was not a good combo on the Dragon. No crash, but here and the Cherohala Skyway was not his friend! Another gratuitous picture of me! The tree of shame! And a freaky ass picture of me! A dragon! Me as a troglodyte! Out of sequence, but let me tell you, by the time I got to Nashville, this looked like Valhalla itself!!!

VFR4Lee
Epic trip. It's the kind of thing you'll remember quite well, when you're 90 something and can't remember what you ate for lunch an hour ago. Thanks for the motivation for my own Reseda to northern IN thought. Which kind of dusts off a Reseda to Fayetteville AR plan that fell apart when my people left AR. But, they're both "back east" yeah? :happy2:

Member Contributer Switchblade Posted July 28, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted July 28, 2014 I wished I would have stayed on the road. Yesterday morning I wheeled my bike out of the covered parking to wash it. I put the kickstand down and walked about 5 steps away and WHAM! I turned around to see RHonda laying on the ground. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!! Scratched the left side fairings, turned my clutch lever into a U shape and broke my left mirror at the base. I'm so bummed. Also, the upper support bar that holds the mirror and provides support for the windsheild got bent down some, so now I have to remove the upper cowling and bend it back up to be even with the other side. I still have a lot to be grateful for as I did just complete this long trip with no issues at all, but it's a sickening feeling to see your bike laying on it's side. Sure you did . Glad your not hurt .. Not just a firetruck a REO speedwagon firetruck . BIG DIFFERENCE !!
Lint
Thanks Switchblade, forgot about the REO Speedwagon part! Yeah, as much as it sucks, I am grateful it happened here. Granted, I would have MUCH rather it not happened, but, at least it didn't happen a long way from home!
Lint
I remembered these. They take this wood, which they source from an eighty mile radius and turn it from this; Burn it here, by hand, using whiskey to start it and garden hoses to control it, Into this, to filter the whiskey they make, which is dripped through ten foot tall about eight foot wide charcoal canisters. Here is a picture of the official Jack Daniels shot glass I picked up while I was there, it's in the foreground, getting ready for shipment... The view from my Motel 6 in Pigeon Forge, the afternoon prior to Tail of the Dragon. I thought it had a cool geometric pattern. Love the local craftsmanship. Just a cool metal box. My dad and brother were looking at Harleys at Bumbus Harley Davidson and I was wondering around looking at stuff, taking pictures etc. I aked my Step-Mom which bike she wanted and she chose this, a Ural two wheel drive sidecar! They could even have my niece with them! Great machine for Montana, you could ride it year 'round! Sweet old Hog
Lint
Remember what divisiveness got us in our country once before and strive to do better and stay united, even when so much of the media etc is trying to separate us and turn us against each other, once again.
