Member Contributer 2FAST4U Posted August 24, 2009 Member Contributer Share Posted August 24, 2009 Very, very nice! :fing02: 111 rwhp is now the highest credible rwhp figure I've seen for a VTEC. Congratulations. Since you've got a rearstand, have you considered removing the center stand? You could knock off an additional 3 lbs. by doing so. Not carrying around the tool kit would be yet another 3 or so lbs. I'm still waiting for somebody to modify the internals of the engine. I'm sure there are many people with the talent to bore out the cylinders (for a total displacement of 830-840 cc's) and then drop in higher compression pistons, cams with more duration and/or lift, etc. If you just got the big bore kit, that alone would probably put you near 120 rwhp. :fing02: Once again, job well done. Guest raoulduke
this is a rad install! I'm wondering if you could post some specifics? Like what front master cylinder you used? And did you use the plain 50mm convertibar, or a bike specific version? You mentioned you were going to post more specifics... any ETA on that? I'm looking to do the same conversion and would love to pick your brain!!! Thanks! Jeff

Jeff Hey Jeff, Roy has sold this bike but the front end lives on, on a mint 4th Gen VFR750 owned by VFRD member Parker. I'm sure he (or Roy) would be happy to elaborate, will see if I can shake one of them out of the tree, or just PM Parker. Roy currently rides a 2009 CBR1000RR with a few of your more typical mods like Ohlins R&T forks, but I reckon a VFR1200 is going to get the zRoYz treatment in the near future... You did this conversion too, correct? What front MC did you use? In my research I found these bore sizes: R1 = 14mm 954 = 17mm 929 = 19mm SP1 = 19mm SP2 = 17.5mm Wondering what folks have used? If I use R1 calipers, I'd like to keep proper brake feel. IIRC the R1 MC/perch doesn't have a brake switch, so I'd have to figure that out. Thanks in advance- Edited November 12, 2010 by raoulduke

Thanks in advance- Hi Raoul Like Muz says, I am the proud and totally chuffed owner of the R1 set-up Roy built for his VTEC. It's been on the bike jsut over a year now, and I've done several big tours with the OzVFR crew, including a 12-day marathon in Tasmania (Godzone for Oz motorcyclists). I ranted and raved about it on my first ride home with it, and the more I ride it the better it gets (see also the pics in that thread). Specifics - the m/cylinder is off an RC51 (SP1). I've still got the OEM clutch m/cyl on so it looks a bit odd, but so what. AFAIK the Convertibars are the 50mm and are a way way better thing than HeliBars as they're adjustable every which way. One tricky bit was getting the wheel and brake rotor spacing right as the CBR954 lower/ SP1 upper triple clamps are different to the spacing you get with the stock R1 triple clamps. Any more questions feel free to ask away, but maybe PM me and I'll reply quicker. Best of luck. Edited November 13, 2010 by Parker

The Phantom
Here you go Kev! Parker's bike after the R1 front end went onto it (lifted from the topic he linked in his reply, g'day Steve). Raoul, mine is set up with the 2004 R1 master cylinder (got a VTR1000F clutch master cylinder, with Beringer reservoir kits for each side. My brake lines are HEL custom made (two equal length lines from master to calipers). CBR929 lower triple, and I have both CBR929 and SP1 upper triples, still haven't finalised the cockpit set-up so not sure which I'll use. My clip-ons are 4-piece Epro billet items (Japanese top-shelf Yamaha parts specialist). They are 25mm higher than stock R1 position. My bodywork and riding position are more sportsbike than VFR so I don't have clearance problems. The 2004 R1 master cylinder perch definitely has a brake switch (mine came from the US so same spec as you'll find locally).
Member Contributer Parker Posted November 13, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) Picture Parker Please! :fing02: A few HERE, and a couple more HERE, including a shot from a beach somewhere in Tasmania of three bikes (a 750, a 99 800 and an 02 VTEC) all featuring Roy's handiwork... Member Contributer kaldek Posted November 18, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted November 18, 2010 Another reason to love VFRD. A two-year-old thread ignites another man's passion and we're off again! Good stuff.
Member Contributer YoshiHNS Posted November 18, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted November 18, 2010 Why do I have a feeling that a couple VFRD people are going to get into a bidding war on ebay now.
