Also no H.I.S.S. on the USA models. Great bike Bobby, hope it serves you well with many happy riding kilometers. Did you get 2 Ignition Keys and all the standard accessories. Seat cowl, seat height raising collars, pillion grab handle blanking plates, complete toolkit, owners booklet and any service records? Cheers from a fellow Melburnian and very happy 8gen owner, with nearly 100,000 faultless Kilometers. 1 1 Quote

Yes, it's the one from A1, low K's - I haven't even picked it up yet, but I believe it's from Oz. Quote

Thanks Grum, It does come with 2 ignition keys, but have not heard about anything else yet (I haven't picked it up yet and sales guy didn't mention them). It sure is gorgeous though. I'm a little bit pumped, if you can't tell already. 👍 Quote

Bobby2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Author Posted July 24, 2024 Just picked up the bike today and wow - it is a fun ride. The seat is currently in the lower position and I need to raise it for my build. This of course means the "set collars" (used to support the seat posts when in the higher position) are nowhere to be found. No issue, I will make new ones from some 28mm Aluminium round stock. Very impressed with the guys at A1, a nice bunch of blokes. Loving the bike, very tidy indeed. Quote

Incase you didn't see it, another guy had asked for the collar dimensions on this thread. Hope this helps. Cheers. 1 Quote

Thanks Grum, and yeah I did see another post detailing the dimensions - but yours is more detailed, thanks mate. I've already ordered some round Alum stock and 6mm Allen bolts. Should be here next in a day or so. I don't have a metal lathe, but I'll post a pic once done, it looks very straight forward. A lot of people don't have those set collars! Here it is with the Delkevic carbon slip on. 2 Quote
RLoibl Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Congrats on your purchase, and greetings from Canada. Good thing you have two keys, took me several weeks, and a good locksmith to make a 2nd one for my 2015. Enjoy two wheeling 1 Quote

A lot of people don't have those set collars! Here it is with the Delkevic carbon slip on. Looking Great M8. The Delkevic must add a nice V4 growl sound effect, much better than the OEM, better looking too. Just wondering, did you get the rear cowl? It's really handy if you're not intending a trip with luggage or a pillion passenger. The cowl gives you greater storage space height under the cowl as opposed to space under the pillion seat. Enjoy the 8gen - the most reliable VFR built, debatable (as always) as to it being considered the best! 1 Quote

Unfortunately, no cowl or grip cover plates etc. Just a very solid bike with an extensive service history (all work done at a1 motorcycles). It is a spectactular bike to ride, loving it. Quote

Bobby2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 This is possibly the best $260 I've ever spent. Check my storage space. 1 Quote
Member Contributer bmart Posted October 17, 2024 Member Contributer Posted October 17, 2024 Watchout for high moisture content in there. I tried that once with a car and it was rust city. 1 Quote

That's great advice - I agree. But there is a mesh window (with a cover) toward the back of the tent, that I leave slightly open. That, combined with the loose fitting bottoms of the side and end walls makes for pretty good air flow. I used it through the winter (just gone) and never saw condensation form on inside. It's looking promising! 2 Quote
