  1. I'm looking to change out my OEM windscreen for something else. What are you favorite and why? Post up links to places to purchase if you care to. Thanks!!!
  2. I recently purchased a 2007 VFR that came with an unopened Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen, dark smoke. It's 18.5" high, 15" wide (measured straight across), or 21" wide measuring across the surface. I'm happy with the stock windscreen and would rather sell this to someone who would use it. Besides, I could always use the cash.
  3. After witnessing my brother have a nasty crash on his bike this summer due to a neglectful driver, and is still in recovery, I've decided it's time for me to call it quits to riding on 2 wheels. That being said, I'm putting my 2006 VFR800 up for sale locally, and offering all aftermarket parts up for sale. Here's what I've got in terms of aftermarket parts. If you are interested in a black 2006 vfr800, feel free to PM me as well and we can work out a fair price. I hope to add pictures in the near future. If someone is interested in parts, PM me and that may get me out to get some pictures in a more timely fashion. Two Brothers Racing Carbon Black Edition Exhaust - $500 obo Corbin Gunfighter and Lady Saddle - $500 obo - Full Leather (most have vinyl side panels, but I convinced Corbin to make one that was full leather and I was very happy with the end result) MRA Smoke Windscreen - $60 obo - stock shape Givi D217S Windscreen - $75 obo Has spoiler lip to direct airflow over the helmet. Good for long trips Givi V35NA 34 Liter Monokey Side Cases - Black w/ Red Reflector - $500 obo Givi PLXR166 - V35 Rapid Release Sideframes - $200 obo - These are the quick release sideracks that come with a special key so the rack can be easily removed when not in use. Givi 166FZ - Monorack Sidearms & M5 Monokey plate - $125 obo 2002-2009 Smoke Front Turn Signals - $15 obo Thurn Motorsport License Plate Bracket - $50 obo I'm not firm on prices, however some of these parts are now hard to come by. If you see something posted at a lower price somewhere, feel free to send me a link, and if I think it's a fair deal, I'll match or beat the price. I'm in no hurry to sell though. All items are priced w/o shipping or paypal fees. If you would like to purchase multiple items, I'd be willing to make a deal. I can also accept cryptocurrency if preferred
  4. Hello, new user here, based in New Zealand with a 2008 VFR800. I haven't had the bike long but I love it. I was caught out in torrential rain the other day, and water poured through the gap between the fairing and base of the windscreen, wetting me and the instruments. I have a phone on a RAM mount that also got saturated 😞 . Has anyone experienced this and can suggest a solution? I imagine blocking it would also deaden wind buffering too. Thanks very much, Maddie
  5. Please PM me if you have a Gen 4 windscreen available in usable condition. I would prefer OEM or clear Zero Gravity SR Series, but may be interested in other low profile windscreens for the Gen 4. Thanks! Kyle
  6. I'm copying this post from one I started over at the other site because I value both groups. This is just a little something I've recently discovered about 5th gen windsceens. I purchased my 5th gen with a Givi windscreen - some call it a sport touring screen. The Givi was fine for quick twisties and on a 10 day trip, but I noticed when I stood up to stretch while riding, my head and shoulders would be up in much smoother air than when seated behind the Givi. I liked the smoother air with less buffeting, so when Joey_Dude parted out his 5th gen, I bought his Zero Gravity double bubble because of its lower profile: There would certainly be more wind on my head and shoulders with the Zero Gravity, but I hoped it would be less turbulent like the wind above the Givi. The result of the comparison - taken over several rides on slab and twisties, all during April days and nights in Southern California - was that yes, there was a slight bit less turbulence behind the Zero Gravity, but there was a lot more air hitting my bare neck. Even in temperate San Diego county, exposed body parts were noticeably colder compared to the Givi. My subjective impression is that the reduction in turbulence behind the Zero Gravity isn't nearly enough to offset the temperature penalty. I'm going to switch back to the Givi. I will try the Zero Gravity again when we get to our hot season in a month or so... Cheers all.
  7. Hello When storing the bike at the end of the season last year, I got gasoline all over my windscreen and it has left a white residue all over the outside facing surface* *If you must know, I had just finished cleaning the bike and adding stabiliser to the fuel when I notices some water running down the fairing and tank. I quickly shot some compressed air and accidentally blew air into the open gas tank which caused some some to spray out. Even though I cleaned it right away, the windscreen is stained. I've tried to clean it off to an avail. I have already ordered a PowerBronze replacement, but once the damaged unit is out, was thinking I would fool around with trying to make it better. Any ideas on what I could do? I know I could paint the inside, but I am not sure this will look good with the cloudy outside... Thanks!
  8. Hey guys, new VFR owner. I just browsed the last 2 years or so of posts in these forums and didn't see anything recent regarding replacement windscreen options for the 90-93 models. I've read the Zero Gravity double bubble is popular but I'm not a fan of the look. I'm really looking for the closest to OEM replacement out there (in terms of shape and thickness/durability). I've read MRA? Anyone suggestions on brands and where they can be ordered would be much appreciated. Photos are great, too :)
  9. For anyone who is curious how Puig looks like from close here some of my recent works. There are multiple threads about screen removal/installation, quality of the Puig screen so conclusion: Easy installation, nice/solid looking windscreen. Did not notice much difference in wind drag but it's about look :) As far as where I bought it (US Owners) Amazon.com you should not pay more than $85 plus free shipping
  10. Buck

    Windscreen

I am the original owner of a beautiful 1995 VFR 750 F which now has about 35,000 miles. When the bike was relatively new I mounted a radar detector to the windscreen and over time scratched the heck out of it, dumb move. I a, not able to find the original OEM windscreen in any Honda parts website and I'm not to keen on the few aftermarket windscreens that are available as they look cheap and are too boy racer for my taste. How would I find if there is a new windscreen sitting on the shelf at a Hinda dealer somewhere or is there a good alternative I've not stumbled on? Damn, I'd pay for a new OEM windscreen. I'd like to hear any recommendations.
  11. Hey all, so my stock screen is scratched and foggy so it needs to be replaced, but i wanted to go with a shorter black screen anyway so it works out. So the question is Zero Gravity or Puig? Ill be going with the standard OEM size and shortening it so is one easier to cut/work with? or are both about comparable? Second: what seat do you guys like better? The Corbin or the Sargent? I have nothing to compare it to since Ive only ever had the OEM seat. Finally: where can I find a decent rear hugger for my 6th gen?? I feel like Ive scoured the entire internet and all the ones i see either get terrible reviews or look like garbage for an excessive price. do any members here make them for sale? i saw a red one on someones bike on here at one point that looked fantastic. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
  12. My 07 came to me with a Puig touring screen but for long distance touring I am looking for a little more protection. I'm considering adding the MR XCreen spoiler blades but not sure it will fit. The puig is already considerably higher than stock. Wondered if anyone had experience with adding the blade. Might I be better off with the sport style blade? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  13. hi guys Currently running the MRATouring screen VFR. Love flap extension. The issues is after adding helibars and making my sitting position more upright, the extensions seems short and lots of turbulence. Looking for a taller extension about 6 high. MRA generic extension screen are available but then they DONT bolt on directly onto the existing hole. any ideas - unless i end up fabricating one from scratch. Ride safe !!!
  14. Hi all! I have it on good authority that Santa is going to be bringing me a Puig Racing clear windscreen for Christmas and here is my dilemna... I have not taken the stock windscreen off yet but I assume the stock windscreen has tinted film on it because where the upper cowl meets the meter panel is rather unsightly? Since I like the look of the tint on the stock windscreen and how it fades out and I'm assuming I can't reuse the film from the stock windscreen here is my plan to attempt to replicate the stock tint look: - Apply reverse Honda decal to inside of windscreen. - Mask off front of windscreen - Mask off inside of windscreen from top of screen to top of where fade will end - Make stencil to replicate the oval curve of the tint (the bottom of a home depot bucket looks like it could be used for this) - apply stencil to inside of windscreen so that only the area for full tinting is exposed - fully darken exposed area of inside windscreen with Rustoleum Lens Tint - move stencil up the windscreen about an inch - apply a very light coat of Lens Tint to exposed area I figure if the screen ends up looking like fecal remnants then Plan B will be to just fully darken the entire inside of the screen with Lens Tint but I won't be happy about it. So there's my plan...I hope to take pics of the mod in progress and finished product and share...good or bad... Feel free to offer any suggestions you may have...thanks!
  15. In my pursuit to lessen the wind buffeting noise and continued quality of ride on longer treks, I am looking for a wind screen extension. Ever since riding to the first SumSum with CVVFR whilst he rode the ST, his comments about 'raising the windscreen and the rain/wind just disappeared' its been on my mind. Now, I'm not looking for a full replacement (nor an ST for any SA's) but I've seen a few members (Baileyrock) that have one. In doing an internet search, I found a couple quality units out of the UK for around 80# (Guessing around $140 Cdn). If anyone who has one installed could provide some comments on how it works for wind reduction, installation ease and general comments (plus pics) would be great. I'm tall in the saddle at 6'2, not looking for a snow plow blade on the front, but anything that helps.
  16. Bought a rough VF1000R this weekend, a bike I have always liked and wanted to get checked off the "bucket bike list" Currently painted black and down on both sides. This fall and winter a rebuild and repaint will be in order. So in the mean time, educating myself and amassing parts. Engine is the best part. 29,000 miles, starts immediately, doesn't smoke or leak oil. Shifts good, revs out well, clutch feels good. So encouraging news there. Several questions about parts through. 1) Need to find a windscreen. Aftermarket is fine. I see Twisted Throttle has choices (original, spoiler, touring) in different shades from MRA. They are available in 4-6 weeks. Any other alternatives? 2) Mirrors. The bike is missing front turn signals, this would be a good time to change to integrated mirrors/turn signals, as the mirrors are rashed as well. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm thinking just some rather plain ones from Ebay in black, then fab up adapters. Modern mirrors all seem to mount vertically (to fairing), the Honda has a horizontal mounting. Small right-angle adapter would be fairly easy. 3) Exhaust. The bike still has a rusty OEM exhaust that appears scuffed and beat up, as well as very heavy. Looking online I can't seem to find a full exhaust system designed for the bike, although I would settle for just a slip-on. I see many brands (Yosh & Hindle being the two most common). Obviously they no longer stock exhaust for a bike this old, but what are options? I like the look of the Leo Vince pipes used on ICON's Magificent Basterd show bike. A cheaper alternative would be to use DanMoto GP series. But if someone makes a pipe designed to fit on the bike, that would be great. Anyone? 4) Footpegs/rearsets. I think the footpeg assemblies weigh as much as a new Honda minibike. Does anyone make a set for the VF1000R, or are we stuck fabricating ones to fit? 5) rear seat cowl. One thing missing was the rear seat cowl. Not surprisingly they are NLA from Honda. Does anyone make a replica? 6) Seat upholstery. Does a 1986 seat cover fit a 1985 bike? Mine has a duct tape special covering the original ripped red seat cover. I see Ebay has covers, curious if there were any differences. Thanks in advance.
  17. I have just purchased a 2007 VFR800ABS with less than 3000 miles. Truly a cream puff ie to say it is like just out of the box! My last bike was a VFR750 1992 back in 1992. A couple of decades ago! I presently live in the country of Panama and I do 35% of my riding in the rain!!!! I love my Michelin which I put on immediately after purchasing which leads me to where I could use some input here. My question is this do I dare use Rain-X on the windscreeen. While I was waiting for the new tires and Givi paniers to be installed I was chatting with a variety of folks and one of my questions was about the use of Rain-X and the quick very firm reply given was NO! The No response apparently is because the windscreen is a laminate and teh Rain-X can cause problems with this. I am curious to know what consensus there is in this group. I am a newbie here and I have to say I find the intereaction and exchange of info here refreshing and very enjoyable. You all have a fine weekend. Geo
  18. I recently bought a MRA Touring windscreen for my beloved 3rd gen. I was so excited to receive it from Twisted Throttle after two months. It's not their fault, its coming from Germany. The MRA is a bit thinner than OEM and I felt better installing some nylon washers. Other than that, the change was painless. It changed the look a bit, kinda like an alien from the Alien movies. Or an early 80's Katana. The ride is the important part. Shrug. It's alright. Instead of my chest, air hits me mid helmet. I put a little more weight on the clip ons, but it is a little quieter. Not quite the change I was looking for, but I did notice that I was riding everywhere a lot faster. I don't have mpg numbers yet, but I will report if requested. For statistics sake, I'm 5'8" and haven't ridden two up yet. The above was noted with a tank bag and soft saddlebags. I know pics would help, if you tell me what you want I'll do it.
  19. Thought about digging up an old thread about cleaning those little pockets, but I'm wondering if anyone has cut the lower portions of the windscreen out. I can certainly cut it cleanly and file/sand it to look relatively nice, but I'm wondering if it's been done beforehand. I'm probably going Puig or ZG anyway, but for some reason I want to try it. However, no reason to spend the time cutting it if it's been done and sucks. Picture below gives a little bit of a cutting guideline:
