  2. Perhaps this rendering will look better....
  3. CT..................
  4. The engine with the matching #'s to the frame has some "experience"...
  5. I might go the yellow film route at some point.....
  6. The jury is still deliberating....
  7. The Gilera had (according to the Italian bike tech guru that made her run) a wrong sparkplug and a 2-stroke carb with incorrect jetting, connecting tube to a head a Walmart bit of cobbled together tubing. so he turned a new one. We tried salvaging as much parts from the incorrect carb to rebuild a proper one with a MA 18 B shell. But after fiddling with jets, needle height and shape, trying to ensure proper fuel level inside the bowl, he just said "who cares" and removed a perfect one from (one of) his MV Agusta's for me.... He owns a few yes, And knows how to turn from solid aluminium bar ... Han the THE MAN!!!
  8. Yep, that is scary! I trust you contacted Fren's customer service department as well. Be interesting to read their response..
  9. "I love the smell sound of 1950's 4-stroke in the morning; it sound like........ VICTORY!!!"

  11. Welcome back to the V4 fold The SP's seat is indeed designed with a specific application in mind...
  12. You want the guy's details?
  13. top bar under BROWSE there is a download section, u could check there
  14. And so the farkling begins... (Mind you, this is the OEM part the bike came with in 1955. So does this classify as "farkling"?)
  15. Offered the guy that if he washes the thing and send me pictures, I will put it up for sale on the Dutch VFR forum for him. Pretty sure an existing 5th gen owner with sun-bleached plastics will pounce. The white rims are dent/scratch free I think... Unsure what the insie of the tank will look like. But firing up right away (and run for more that 5 minutes w/o a stutter) bodes well.
  16. Got 1st dibs this white 2000 5th gen with 90,000km on her. Stood idle/outside under a cover for 2 years. and yes, we do get wet and cold winters... Connected a fresh battery and she fired right up and set in a steady idle. But then... Tank lock jammed, no way to open Front rotors 3.1mm (3.5mm service limits) Used for commuting the past 8 years: fork lowers, calipers, pistons and bracked corroded to F... Stanchions pitted looking like spotted dick Tacho display not working, nor indicators RHS exhaust heat shield looking like swiss cheese (the exhaust system in perfect nick though) Rear spindle seized solid Chain and sprockets rusted beyond salvation Bike was painted white (from red) from new, but scraped a wee bit here and there ( as is to be expected) Rear caliper, rotor and bracket corroded, in fact anything metal was corroded. Asking Euro 300, I still walked away.
  17. Rocker cover gasket is iffy I reckon. Lifted the cover and found fresh oil on tge face and gasket. So I cut a new one.. will try tomorrow if this proves to be "it"... Never done one before, never too old to learn.
  18. I gave you 1st dibs...... But granted, you had other/better things on your mind eh?
  19. There is plenty compresseion methink. With the sparkplug revmoved and gearbox in 1st, rotatin the rear wheel is fairly easy. I can hear the piston puffing. with the spark plug is, it reauires siginificant effect. Och well, will try again in a couple of days.
  20. Well, the Gilera dit not start "off the bat", so I will need to dig deeper. Carb was cleaned ultra-sonically, I have spark I have compression (I think...) I hove no kickstarter so pushing it is.... To no avail. so I gave up for the day, took the exhaust off and drove home Strarted cleaning which include putting a powerdrill+wire wheel on her... Then, when I helt it vertically, a shitload of primarily sand streamed out With rust flakes in for good measure. Ir was quite a volumen/weight So I'm (hoping) that this somehow blocked the exhaust flow so much that it hampered attempts to start her. Back on it maybe Thursday or Friday..... 🍀🍀🍀
  21. On the VF400F I had, the brake pads were worn, but the spare set of wheels had a good set of NISSIN ones. These braked very well I must say. The new owner bought the bike for his son-in-law. He mailed me a picture of the happy chappy!
  22. Jo regelt!!! 😎
