It's a preference thing. I went with long ones on my 4th gen. Found the 4th gen stockers to be pretty uncomfortable to use in the long run. I like the longs cause I can just click them all the way to the grips and have something to stretch my fingers on.
  2. No links to where you want to grab em, but you'll need to get the chain adjustment tool and the shock adjustment tool. Those should be the only two special tools in the kit. Otherwise, 8, 10, 12, 14mm wrenches, believe a 6mm allen key, and some spark plug tools. That should do it. Of course, the easiest way to see what tools you need is to start taking the bike apart and note what you needed to do it.
  3. I'm usually on the rear break just enough to trip the sensor, but it would be a nice little feature. Don't exactly see where you would use a vacuum sensor. Just giving it a thought, not really sure how you would do it easily. Engine breaking isn't the easiest state to determine by one sensor.
  4. You cannot see 8hp, only feel it...
  5. I'm going to be in the same situation this weekend. You really do get spoiled riding with most VFR riders.
  6. I was just thinking earlier today what kind of gear I could get so I can go on camping trips two-up. I don't think my passenger would appreciate me using her back as a luggage rack.
  7. The red lane is going to win for obvious reasons
  8. My experience with chinese steel has been very poor. We had two or three jobs in the machine shop where we were supplied the metal. It was chinese, and it was terrible. When you mill normal carbon steel, the edge cuts the steel and it breaks off as the edge exits the steel. This stuff didn't do that. Easiest way to explain what was happening is to imagine milling into a giant wad of chewed gum. The steel would just stretch and stick. Almost went through a grand of tooling doing that job. Now, that may have been the customer's fault for supplying the cheapest steel he could, or it could have been a fluke, or it could have been a good representation of chinese steel. Don't really know as after that job we made it a policy to not do any jobs that involve chinese steel.
  9. the pictures are down. Figures the one weekend I go to do it.

I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it. Nice job there!
  15. I would say that it could be one of those situations where the blingy aftermarket just happens to be cheaper than the OEM parts, but this is not the case. The lio cap for my car was like that.
  16. I am keeping a collection of all custom paints/photochops. Currently, they are not organized by any means. 17. There's been quite a bit about GoPro on this site. From watching samples from vimeo, it looks pretty good. Very reasonably priced as well. And a quick search in the nifty integrated search bar returns this THREAD And mind you. There are different versions of the GoPro. I would get the GoPro Wide Hero VIMEO SAMPLE
  18. No, but I've been looking at this lately. DVR-1000 Extreme Its pretty big, but it has a lot of usable features.
  19. there are very few 'current gen' camcorders that have video inputs and mic inputs. And there seems to be a gap growing between the consumer and pro cameras. For most positions it seems SD DV-based cameras work the best. Then again, if you are getting a camera for the inputs, there are other recording devices out there to do that. Some even have multiple camera inputs.
