  1. Yosh, does anyone even know what your project is yet? Yeah, it's Soggy Thirds. All the parts that you couldn't use on sloppy seconds and need to get rid of, plus whatever I pick up to complete it.
  2. So the Ducati monster/848/1098/1198 eccentric will fit in the VFR swingarm? I didn't think it would work at all.
  3. C'mon Sebastian. Just find a damaged 6.0 Ducati wheel and measure the offset. Buy a Ducati spindle off eBay for the measurements there, and combine the two to make the spindle adapter. I estimate the offset spacing on Carrozeirra's adapter to clear the VFR's rear caliper and centre the wider Ducati wheel to be about 6.35 mm. Turn one out of something cheap like plastic or wood to test fit and you're off :fing02: It's sort of been done already. Matt did it on one of his 4th gens using triumph guts and a monster wheel.
  4. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Can't wait to see the final results. Looking good so far.
  5. I weighed the 4th gen VFR swingarm at 26.6 lbs. That was with all of the guts (rotors, hub, sprocket, ect.) How much does the 900RR swingarm weigh? Triumph Speed Triple swingarms weighs a portly 37 lbs. Good thing it won't fit on the VFR.
  6. How close is the 1098 subframe to fitting? Looks like it isn't too much work to make it fit.
  7. It's been a while since I've done anything with this, so I took the time today to do a major update on it. I moved all the pictures from Flickr to Photobucket. There are several reasons I did this. Big two were photo limit on flickr and ease of organizing photos on PB. The link has been updated in the first post. I've added a slew of photochops and custom jobs since I last did anything with the thread. I've also organized everything by generation instead of having one album with everything. The Misc album is where I am putting body conversions and other work that doesn't clearly fall in one category. Hopefully I'll keep a better tab on this stuff in the future and do updates more often than one a year. Enjoy.
  8. Have to be a member of the board. Can you upload them to VFRD or something? This was the route I was thinking about going, possibly.

    Vfr1 :-)

Why do I have a feeling that a couple VFRD people are going to get into a bidding war on ebay now.
  10. Oh god. I already have a feeling I'm going to be visiting home very often on the weekends. Track down electrical gremlin on Katana Engine Swap on the Magna Replace Lowering kit on RWB with stock setup Steering head bearings on 4th gen #1 Properly mount R/r on 4th gen #1 Finish assembling ST1100 #2 Re-set forks on 98 VFR Prep '00 R1 forks for use on 98 VFR 929 shock for 98 VFR Prep work for 4th gen #2 Stare at the ST1300 and ask, why was this a good idea?
  11. Possible, but probably pretty difficult. You essentially need forks that are going to give you a heap more ground clearance. Not even going to think about the rear suspension right now. Is it possible. Maybe. But I'm not gonna do your homework.
  12. That's pretty much what I needed to hear. The offset isn't really a worry, as I would make my own upper triple anyways. Would just end up using an R1 front wheel, spacers, ect. But if the stem's no good, the stems no good. Thanks.
  13. I'm wondering how the R1 triples line up.
  14. :laughing6-hehe: But yeah. It doesn't act like a wing or a sail. If anything, it's more like a spoiler. And with the speed you'd be riding at, I'm not even sure the air flowing over it would still be laminar by the time it reaches the end of the windscreen.
  15. Looks good so far. Not sure if I like the exhaust sticking straight up though.
  16. Wow. I remember when you said you were starting this. And oddly enough, finally found my scott oiler I bought last season. Thanks for the info.
  17. That looks like an amazingly fun weld job.
  18. Meh. I sort of like the effect he did, but I don't think it would be that hard to replicate. Might have just messed with the white balance on the camera to get that look. Or maybe he just added a filter over the frame to get that yellow haze. Or might have taken the blue sky and shifted it into yellow. Actually, now I wanna figure out exactly what he did. *back to dungeon* But I do like how he adds the motorcycle track. Doesn't that thing have a mike? Not like it would be of any use in the wind anyways.
  19. My dad has his 07 lowered. Something the PO did. It does have the shortened kickstand. If you find that you want the bike to lean over more, let me know and I'll see if my dad would be willing to swap with you.
  20. I'm not completely sure on the verdict there. I'd suggest you go through the electrical system check before you go get another stator. I can't really imagine that if it was the battery, it would just decide to fire up 30 minutes later.
  21. I'm running Iridiums on 4th and 5th gens. But I got them because I'm hoping they will hold up longer, not because I expected more power out of them. The 4th gen does seem to start easier with the iridiums though.
  22. Welcome! First off. Which generation are you looking at getting? That's going to be a bit of a factor on parts availability. I think you need to look around and see what kind of parts you actually want. Saying I want a touring windshield is like saying I want a can o pop/soda. Lots of different kinds, and different prices. DIY heated grips are just north of $30. But you could buy actual grips with heaters in it, or I've seen heaters that go into the handlebars themselves. Those are more expense I believe. There are a few windscreen companies out there. Probably the popular three are Zero Gravity, Puig, and Givi. I've bought my ZG DB for around $60-$70. You're probably looking a few bills more than that for a touring screen. Luggage racks vary as well. Looking for soft luggage, full GIVI bags, OEM hardbags, Pelicans? A set of hard luggage is probably going to be $400 and up. Soft luggage is easily had for any price. You have to look around and see what you want. HIDs: Thought they were coming down to the $100 level. There was a thread not too long ago about HID conversions. Look it up in the forums. Heli bars. I think they're $150 range. Someone else should give a better idea. Pretty much you need to poke around and see what you like.
  23. For me, getting the pazzos was more about comfort than looks. Adjustment is easier, so I can click them close and have something to rest/stretch my fingers on. They just feel so much more comfortable than stock and seem to require a bit less force as well, but that may just be mental. OK, maybe that first sentence was a bit off. Do these grips actually help the lever comfort. I wouldn't think so too much.
