SHvar
I was at a breakfast ride last week and a Honda cycle dealer employee told a few of us that Honda decided to stop making the VFR1200, they say that customers complained that the 1200 wasnt a VFR, and of course the lack of sales and high price from the beginning. Member Contributer BonusVFR Posted April 11, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 11, 2015 What would be nice is a sport touring version .....say a ST-1200 or VFR1200T.
Member Contributer 2FAST4U Posted April 11, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 11, 2015 Or a VFR1200RR. I think Honda had the right idea, but didn't execute it well. Had it been up to me, they would have made a VFR1300RR to compete with the Busa, 14, and K1300S and also a VFR1300T to compete with bikes like the Connie, R1200RT, and FJR. Member Contributer The mailman Posted April 12, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 12, 2015 I was hoping for what turned out to be a 2015 model back when the 1200s came out. I moved from a 4th gen to a 6th gen instead. The 2015 style would have been in my garage if they hadn't tried to build a BMW first. I'm not totally dissing the 7th gen because they seem to be alright for what they are but that is NOT a VFR in my eyes. I think Honda just figured that out for themselves. :sad2:
30Bones
Sat on one at the dealer yesterday. Just didn't work for me. Styling is too jagged for the what I assume is an older market. Seat was terrible and the luggage was super small. Sent from my Samsung S5
samael6978
I love my VFR1200 and yes, I know I'm in the minority. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It is a first motorcycle I kept for more than 3 years. I hope that Honda will come out with a new VFR instead of continuing gen 8th underpowered turd of a bike. I wouldn't mind 1000 cc, shaft driven Honda with hard luggage for my next ST ride.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 13, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 13, 2015 Having ridden it in all its guises, I say that is is a great bike, but nothing like a RC36 or RC46 (3,4,5,6 Gens). More a ST1100 that spend time in the gym! A local dealer has plenty used on the sales floor....

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 13, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 13, 2015 well, what is good..... Ok, the dollar exchange came down from 1.30 to some 1.08. But you guys would still shiver at these proces... In my dreams they will give me 2,000 euro trade0in on redslut. That still leave too beaucoup of a difference to warrant a change (if I wanted to)
marriedman
Dutchy - you have long said the 4th gen is your favorite but I don't think I have ever read your opinion of the 7th. Have you ridden one? If so, what did you think?
Member Contributer Polarbear Posted April 13, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 13, 2015 Ouch! Those do make me shiver... Yikes. Anyway was just curious.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 13, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted April 13, 2015 Have a ridden one? now let me see................ Never felt anything wrong with the engine/power delivery Even in the phishing rain I could not fault the bike (that may be due to my lack of riding skills...) If I were in the market for a GT, I would buy one on a heartbeat... But indeed, my heart is with redslut!!!
