Alhazred
Made a nice little score this week. As well as this... I got them from the same guy and he lives only 10 minutes from me.He was having trouble selling the bike even though it was for a very fair price but I convinced him to sell me the exhaust and wheel.Got them both for $650. I need to order in some new exhaust studs and nuts.Even though they came off nice and easy putting them back on the nuts started to get bound up and eat the threads. I have one question, the PO said I don't need to use seals with this header. Is this true?He said he couldn't get it to mount properly with the seals and it didn't leak without them so he left it that way. I think I made out well.
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted July 7, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted July 7, 2014 Nice find/score, the wheel alone is worth about half what you paid for both.
VFR4Lee
Nice find/score, the wheel alone is worth about half what you paid for both. Facts like this leave me feeling conflicted. My 98 with 77k or so miles is doubtless worth more cash if sold in parts than whole. But, it still runs great! If I bought one with low mileage, then parted out my old bike, could I come out ahead? Including my labor and time? Not that I would do such a thing.

SEBSPEED
I would get new copper crush gaskets for the heads. I have fitted a set and was able to install them with the new gaskets. They are cheap to boot. Nice score.
Alhazred
I ended up ordering the gaskets anyway along with the studs and nuts.I'll try to get a soundclip up after I finish installing the exhaust.
Alhazred
The system went on nice and easy once I replaced the studs,I didn't even remove the subframe it pretty much just slipped in there. What a sound,I had goosebumps the whole half hour ride home from my parents place. This thing sounds MEAN,it's like riding two Ducati's at once. Does anyone know of a db killer mod that I can do to the can?I love the sound but it is a little bit loud...
Guest
The pipe may need to be repacked. That will deaden the noise some. It is a job to safely remove the rivets. I have the Two Bros. high titanium full system on my Y2K. It sounds great. I have the Yoshimura aluminum slip-on on my '96 it sounds good as well. Pretty sure it is more the V4 making them sound beautiful as much as the pipe. You did well with the liberation of those parts. I am glad it was an easy install for you. Good job. Alhazred
Yeah I'm thinking about repacking it,should I use the repack from 2bros or is there something better? Edit: I just put a db-Dawg on it for now. This thing really works, there is a huge difference in the volume now but no change in sound.
