Guest
I think mine look great in black, they just need to look a nice solid black rather than a dull patchy black like they are at the moment!

Take a look at this one with white wheels for a comparison...
Guest
Don't judge my photoshop skills but I've just had a VERY quick play around and think the gold looks pretty cool too or maybe it's a bit too 80's porno?
Member Contributer CornerCarver Posted January 14, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted January 14, 2014 Actually looks really good...maybe Yoshi was onto something.

SEBSPEED
I am, at times, partial to gold wheels.
VFR4Lee
Ah, but the purple with the white flames. Nice rebuild from the ground up.
Guest
Wheel update! Didn't go for gold as the powder coater only had a Subaru gold which looked a bit flat and not rich enough. In the end I went for a very metallic anthracite colour which looks amazing. Very pleased.

When looking at those "boomerang" wheels, does it appear feasible to remove the 6 boomerangs attaching the hub to the wheel rim and have some 17" replacements made? I cannot recall how they are attached to the rim but I believe the hub is bolted in and the rim is riveted on...
Guest
I can't see 17" rims would work as the front is 16" and the back is 18"
Member Contributer CornerCarver Posted January 28, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted January 28, 2014 Perhaps not for your project but I am interested in mounting modern radial rubber on an old VF but for one bike in particular I may want to retain the look from those iconic gold boomerang wheels. I may have to check the CX500/650 turbo twins to see if those wheels (only other bike I recall them on) came in other sizes. It may be my fuzzy memory (or it could have been smaller front brake rotors) but I seem to recall more wheel visible around the front rotors on one of the CX turbos...I know the rear was shaft drive so that wheel wouldn't work for me (unless it was 17" and I could more easily adapt it to the VF chain drive hub). Veefer800Canuck
Someone did this with ComStar wheels before. Don't remember which model it was. Maybe a VF1000? I think they took the rear rim off another model, maybe a japanese 400, and bolted it to the 1000 front hub with the 17" inner pieces.
mraverage
Hi guys, just introducing myself. Getting my hands on a 1986 VFR 750 in the next couple of months. It's a runner and MOT'd etc but i'm thinking of doing a complete strip down to restore to it's former glory. I may need some help with some questions. I'm hoping to bump into "the peachroom" at a paignton bike night in the summer to see his hard work complete? cheers fellas mr A
