Guest lasvegas67
Hello there !! I just want to share a modification I made on my 1995 vfr. For temperature matters I move the regulator to the front before the radiator. I've made some pictures This is the new regulator place !! First of all an aluminum sheet 3 mm thickness is needed made on 2 parts Fix on the engine support I've cut the inside front pane l cut the wires connect and weld on the front just the R\R through the inside panel connection with a flexible protection The wires will be protect under the lateral panel and be accessible in case of problems, this will also allow water protection . This is the old empty place New front place I ride my VFR for 3 year after this modification without problem. I can even touch the R\R while riding and test if the temp is correct. When the weather is very hot on traffic jam the front radiator fan help to cool R\R I hope this topic will help ! Member Contributer JZH Posted June 9, 2011 Member Contributer Share Posted June 9, 2011 Looks good. Here's one on my FP I prepared earlier... P7140007x OEM reg/rec, relocated to the bottom of the lower triple clamp on my '93 VFR750FP P7140009x Relocated reg/rec and a peek of the two FIAMM horns stuffed into the side fairings (which is what frees up this location for the reg/rec) The mount is a short piece of stainless steel bar stock, bent into an "L". There is currently an upgraded (finned) OEM reg/rec in the same location, and it's been working fine since 2003 (I think there's even a thread on it here--pics are in my Gallery). enzed_viffer
A few years back (lessee.... must've been about 7 or 8), after a crap installation job by the dealers of my replacement R/R, I completely rewired everything south of the stator on my '90 VFR750. I cut off all the plugs, used much thicker wires, shortened as much as possible, and mounted the R/R where the horn usually goes, on 4mm aluminium stock. I gained half a volt by doing so... Then some dumbass u-turned into me, and the insurance company wrote the bike off ($6800 of repairs on a bike valued at just over $7k). V4 Rosso
Looks like an effective way to keep the RR from overheating. I also like how the connector is enclosed by the fairing so dirt can not get in and cause corrosion.

Ciao, If you keep the R/R on the same side and mount to where the horn is/was, can you not cut the wiring?

Ciao, The R/R wiring has to be modified. I have built harnesses for those moving theirs to the front, it isn't very hard as it is fairly simple...the hard part is mounting it.
