Member Contributer V-FORE Posted April 25, 2010 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2010 Yeah I know that the ins co is going to total it, they were going to last year when all I really needed was a pair of forks  So seeing as this is a lot worse If they offer me what they did last year it will probably be approx 1,800.00 I keep the bike. I really want to put her back together :bliss: I have the upper center from before, right upper is fixable, black lower piece is good, I can piece together the left upper, I still have the piece I super glued back together before I replaced it. The main thing I am going to need is the front stay, headlight assmbly, the glass on mine is still good just the rest of it is shot, gauge cluster, although mine is usable, mirrors, a turn signal.... I am holding off taking her apart yet until the adjuster calls. Woo Hoo, at least I learned about how forks are put together last year  I am looking forward to this project & if I can find another fourth gen reasonable I might end up with M.B.S. although I have seen a couple of 5th Gens that are reasonable :fing02: Thanks for the support :wheel: Gary

Member Contributer leanit Posted April 25, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2010 First of all, we're all glad you are okay. I know it only takes a second and then...we're knee deep in poop. Every morning I ride to work, I leave at 5:50am and arrive at work at 6:40am. I see it as a blessing! If I look in my mirror for more than a instant, I begin to curse. Why? A few weeks ago, I had a truck on my arse (heavy traffic was in the right lane)so I could not get over and I kept checking the mirror. Bam! hit the corner of a old blown ot truck tire. 6 inches to the right and let me say that the out come would not have been the same. Good post and good advice from the officer. Ride safe, JD

The bike can be rebuilt if you want, although if you could find a 5th gen...welcome to the FI-dark side. :491: The 3rd gen's are the best looking and I've always lusted after one of those too, good luck on the '91. :cheerleader:

Guest
+1 Looks great! Congrats on such a speedy rebuild. I'm gonna have to assume you haven't lived in the northwest that long for your hope that the weather will soon co-operate, haha. I'm born and raised WA, and we all know summer doesn't start up here until the 5th of July :D Hopefully we'll get a chance to ride when the sun comes out.
