  1. That's a great ride. The Rowena Curves and the ice cream along the way have kept me coming back a few times.
  2. What about the Klim Hardanger? It's similar to the Roadcrafter in design. I have Klim adventure gear and it is really good. Is it worth the money? Well, yes, if you're going to actually use it for a long period of time, I'd consider it worth it. Mine has been completely waterproof and lasted 50,000 kilometres so far without an issue.
  3. I've also used RAM mounts (U-bolt base) from the gas tank bolts and put a ball just in front of the tank with a 6" extension. https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-231ZU (you just need some longer tank bolts - longer metric ones) or On my current adventure bikes I've gone with the X Mount system and it works surprisingly well. You can also mount it on the front brake reservoir bolts.

    Great photo of you fellas.
  5. Hi superfunkomatic, Thank you for your donation of 25.00 USD. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
  6. Nice one. It's been a few years since I sold my VFR. That's one of my favorite loops around Calgary. What a fantastic bike.
  7. Really cool to watch how this is unfolding.
  8. Good pics! Ride while you can. Days are numbered here, too.
  9. Carb cleaner will dissolve it with very little effort. You may use quite a bit to clean things up but it works.
  10. This is a rider with their priorities in order. 🙂

  12. Indeed. Really enjoyed your company at the meet last summer, too. Our paths will cross again. :)
  13. Well, as luck would have it, my original statement holds true. I wasn't sure if I'd be going in spite of already booking the hotel room, and, I won't be attending after all. That will free up one room at the hotel if someone is still interested. I'll contact the hotel today and let them know. I hope everyone has a great ride and time. Mike
  14. Booked. I'm not sure if I can actually make it yet but I've booked a room just in case.
  15. Love the roads around that area and of course Highway 1. Great riding and scenery. Thanks for sharing.
  16. So, in the summer I sold my 2005 VFR and I bought this... (CRF250L) because I couldn't get an Africa Twin CRF1000L. Then in December, I figured the bike wouldn't be coming, so I bought this. (Honda Ridgeline). Then a week later in December, I got a call from the local Honda dealer, "your bike is here...." So I ended up getting this... Africa Twin CRF1000L. Now I have a problem... MBD. So I have to get rid of this... XL1000V Varadero. :)
  17. Oops. Yes, Crossrunner. My mistake. That's an interesting way of revising the VFR. Very cool bike.
  18. Really like your Crosstour. Really interesting bike that fits right between the Africa Twin and the VFR1200X. I have a small garage and four bikes. Something has to give as I can barely walk around in it.
  19. You never know when you could get a rear flat that you can't repair on the road. Talk about being prepared and proactive.
  20. Thanks for coming all the way out West, Terry. There are excellent hostels on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 just outside of Lake Louise), Banff and at Ribbon Creek in Kananaskis (Highway 40 - Highwood Pass is a beautiful ride) if you want to commune with nature for cheap. Safe travels and drop me a line if you come through Alberta. mike
  21. Super photo, Tony! What a handsome group! I came home early the other day (touring on a 250 is a bit different - tired - haha). It was great to see everyone and the chemistry of this group. Lots of fun, good jokes and conversations, and excellent riding companions. Enjoy the rest of your summer, friends. All the best, Mike
  22. Have a great ride. The roads I mentioned in Alberta were highway 40 from just after Canmore to Longview. If you're stopping in Banff or Lake Louise the Icefields Parkway is worth riding just up to the glaciers (about an hour). Safe travels!
