Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted September 29, 2023 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 29, 2023 Cool. Always an option, thanks! Gonna give my possibility a little more time to pan out. It will be WAY cheaper than that is after shipping.

Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted October 9, 2023 Author Member Contributer Share Posted October 9, 2023 Finally got 30 years of chain lube / road grime off the chain guard. Removed the tab for the chain wear sticker and radiused and blended some nicked edges. Restored and installed.

Thanks yeah, it's in pretty nice shape. I bought it from a friend who bought it from the original owner. The right side looks good too, the fairing is in great shape just needs to be polished up. I've got a few things I'm working on but hope to get on this one soon.

Upper triple and bars are gloss clear lacquer. I masked off the center of the top triple thru the whole process, then on a thick piece of glass dragged the top triple repeatedly in the same direction over some sandpaper to restore the "brushed" finish. I left that area raw for now and we'll see how it fares. I didn't want to clear it because it would have likely "yellowed" it a bit. And I wasn't popping off a fresh can of 2K just for these bits. Everything else had matte clear. I was helping my neighbor bleed some brakes and when I was leaving he gave me an activated partial can of 2K clear. So I went home and shot the footpeg brackets, levers and some other bits with that too. The upper triple came out so nice I didn't want to risk using a day old activated 2K and have it spit. Air cured in the attic of the outer shop, which could almost be considered heat cured. 😉 Hi, if you don't mind sharing, what color lacquer did use on the aluminum parts? Everything I've tried is too bright. Thanks
Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted October 13, 2023 Author Member Contributer Share Posted October 13, 2023 Duplicolor Wheel Coating - Silver. Not too bright and cheap looking. It is almost identical to Honda Accurate Silver, which is used on a bunch of applications. And then the clear coat softens it a bit more if you want. Sprayed these fork lowers on my 95

Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted January 2 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 2 92 is on the lift for upgrade round 2. First is making some mods to mount the Fox remote res where I wanted it. Came out good. I purposely left a good chunk of the right passenger peg just for this purpose, besides the fact it is also the cowl mount. Res hose routes across with the brake line and then up to the shock on the left side. I re-installed the inner fender and no issues with the battery box at all. Pretty happy with it. Gonna look trick up in front of the muffler.

Will this make it more difficult to fit the muffler? Thank you! A pretty big incentive to start this whole thing was the deal I found on the exhaust system. It was complete, even with an aftermarket connecting pipe and clamps, which I needed. Less than $100 shipped. I test fit everything before I restored the exhaust system. Muffler still has a great angle and I might be able to incorporate some springs, albeit mostly for looks. Stoked. Hopefully by this weekend.
