  1. Hardly ever visit VFRD anymore, but boy was I pleased to see this today on a rare visit. So awesome to see you riding!! Once in awhile I will have an image riotgrrl pop into my head randomly and think to myself "I wonder how she is getting on"? Cheers!
  2. Wow!! You should be locked up mate!! Awesome.
  3. Man, I enjoy these posts by you VH. Glad to see you on a bike again!
  4. Fuel filter?? Something gunky could have broke loose and clogged it.
  5. Here in the Bay Area CA we have our share of accidents. They seem to be split equally among the riding community. Seen many Harley/Cruiser crashes. But, personally, I have seen more sportbike crashes then cruisers, likely because the roads I often ride and the company I keep. It's ignorant to assume the type of bike is the cause of a crash or to point a finger at cruiser riders. It's also wrong to say a Harley has inferior stopping ability. A Harley Bagger will stop as fast as your VFR, and a Sportster will likely stop faster. Don't take my word for it: Ask Lee Parks. He tested motos and braking for a living. It's improper braking technique that can be a problem. Unfortunately, sport riding comes with a "culture of speed", in which the newb riders are looking up to the guys who are posting their knee dragging street riding photos/videos online (no offense meant to those that do post vis). They do the natural thing: they emulate. Then, they crash. Seen it too many times to count. I am no angel. Broke every driving law there is. Likely will break several next time I ride. Just pointing out that crashing is not related in any way to the type of bike you ride. I was not at the crash posted above, but the description does make it sound avoidable. Imo, riders often follow way too close and have far to much faith (unfounded) in the stopping ability of their motos and themselves.
  6. Braided also resist heat more then rubber.
  7. Yeah, you set the oem stuff stiff enough to resist bottoming, and it proceeds to beat the sh*t out of you. And, it takes a lot more effort to ride around shot crap suspension. If setting up or upgrading is an option for anybody, there would be zero reasons not to do it. If Kevin Schwantz was cruising around on the street (or track or anywhere for that matter), you can bet your a$$ he's going to be on a bike with nicely sorted out suspension!
  8. I had to rewire my rear lights. Because the rear fairing shakes apart over time, so do the wires. I had a similar problem. They worked intermittently then failed. I isolated to the junction of the tailight and blinker wires. Just replaced the crimps and cleaned it up. Now it works great. Let me know if you need some help, I am over in Lafayette (east bay) and have manuals and wiring and whatnot.
  9. You'll poke out yer eye riding like that! It's all fun and games 'till someone looses an eye....
  10. Awesome project! I dig stuff like this.
  11. Nice report Larry. Gary Jaehne is the guy on the Ninja 250 who just went by you.......he's fast!
  12. If you get down to 195 will those Aerostich leathers still fit? If not, I am willing to stuff my face for a bit, gain about 25lbs, and you can send them to me! :idea3:
  13. Interesting project! Coming along nicely.
  14. Very sad what happened to Bubba Shobert. Awesome racer.
  15. Looks awesome!
  16. SICK.
  17. Jeebus!! Sounds crazy. Man, it just sounds terribly painful. Probably similar to falling off the top of a big rig trailer while going down the freeway! Thanks for explaining it again.
  18. Man, that is gnarley! Glad you still have feet! I read the original crash post and this one, but I guess I missed exactly how it happened. I thought it was something where you didn't remember exactly what took place?? My point in asking, is that I am curious as to wether these injuries and boot damage occurred from a twisting force or a compression force? Do you happen to know or remember? Not trying to pry, just curious as that is some crazy damage!
  19. I'd rather have a Staintune myself.
  20. Looks like your silver strat needs a bit of work, too!! :fing02:
  21. Jeez, you live in Chico! Lets see: 1. Sierra Nevada Brewery and meatloaf 2. hot college chicks 3. cool downtown to drink Sierra Nevada and creepily gawk at said college chicks 4. millions of miles of sweet twisties in every possible direction 5. nice racetrack fairly close Why in the h*ll would you ever leave?????????
  22. If you buy a D&D from the manufacturer they can do a "streetpack" which is not nearly as loud. Sounds awesome actually. GPR also makes a cool one that can be found on Ebay, in the stores section. Two Brothers sound great though, imo. Just about any exhaust sounds awesome on a V4!!
