  1. Make sure you are leaving some air space in the res when the rubber diaphragm and cap are on.
  2. What bay was this thing salvaged from? Jesus H Christ. Very sorry. I hope the problem isn't as bad as you think and it works out, but... Culpability on both parties here. Selling shit as ready to ride and an inadequate, to non-existent, buying inspection. He knew what he did here.
  3. Even though we have clarified that, I am still confused. What the hell does "dead" mean? They are all smashed and no air can pass? You have passages that connect the two tanks and you have fins between the passages. How about some pics of what you are talking about?
  4. What the hell is mounted on the upper cowl inner panel? Nuclear launch button?
  5. Nice addition. Now figure out the surging and de-link ces stupides freins.
  6. OIL SEAL (40X68X7.2) 91207-MW4-003 The "7.2" is the width. Just substitute with a 7 and search for a high quality 40x68x7. 40x68x7 is available in a double lip with spring from many sources. I do it all the time. 40x68x7mm FPM/FKM Oil Shaft Rotary Seal w/ Stainless Steel Spring Dbl Lip
  7. I'm in the US, what are "cooler thins"?
  8. What does the Honda Service Manual specify?
  9. 98 No cat, no wax. Been working a "choke" lever my whole riding career... think I can handle it. Prefer to.
  10. Honda used this on a BUNCH of bikes.
  11. Thumbs, not sure if you are referring to an experience with your 89. While the 86-89 OEM cap looks the same as every other OEM cap Honda put on EVERY OTHER BIKE, it is different. Yes, by a few millimeters. So when you buy a aftermarket keyless cap for Honda, it wasn't made for the RC24/26. It's not necessarily manufacturing variances. There is actually a Kawasaki cap that has the correct bolt hole relationships for the RC24, but requires a custom (viton) gasket be made to seal the Honda sized hole with a Kawasaki sized/placed cap hole. And the OD turned down slightly to properly fit the well and seat the gasket nicely.
  12. See if you can get away with a set of 6 for a half-rack.
  13. In your case they would be Gold Valves. The forks are already cartridge and don't need to be "emulated". You should ABSOLUTELY get new properly spec'd straight rate springs if either of your forks are not already equipped. Move this up into "To-Do"
  14. Yeah, Washington is "COLLECTOR VEHICLE", and most of my bikes look the part.
  15. Washington State. Pretty easy to satisfy the requirements any time I am on one. May be driven: To and from auto shows, circuses, parades, displays, special excursions, and antique car club meetings. For testing purposes. For the pleasure of others without compensation. May not be used for: Regular transportation in the manner of a fully licensed vehicle. Commercial purposes or to carry a load. Also, there seems to have been a shift in enforcement of things like this in my area They just don't give a shit. You still maintain and operate a vehicle over 30 years old? Cool. Carry on. It wasn't like this years ago and kinda kept me from converting some bikes.
  16. Besides not even getting close to justifying price for me. there is ZERO chance I could run them around where I live. Quality suspension upgrades that can properly deal with the (sprung/unsprung) weight of the bike are easily the most effective tune up to be made on a bike for me. That would be track day bling only. And it is still absolutely not in the budget. Shit... for my priorities, lithium batteries are still in "maybe someday" status, even after coming down in price.
  17. The wrong exhaust design can quickly get you interested in min performance.
  18. My 500 Race exhaust is dual, split front and rear. Works really good on this engine's firing order. Staggered ends for length. Sounds KILLER too.
  19. Cool. Nice weekend getaway. The thirstiest bikes I have ever ridden, and with stock main jets and just shimmed needles. My modded Hawks have a shorter range, but they combine thirsty with small fuel tanks.
  20. ...with the VF1000R being a showcase for the technology Honda had developed on the track with the FWS1000 race bike which was designed for competition in the Daytona 200 and AMA F1 class.
  21. Honda also said the engine must come out to replace a mechanical water pump seal on the CX500. Just give the job to a flat rate mechanic... they will find a work around.
  22. They are big and heavy and handle like shit with stock suspension. The good news is that with a good aftermarket rear shock and proper springs with cartridge emulators they are transformed. Still big and heavy, but seemingly "lose" weight with the right suspension. Confirm 2nd gear is there. Some parts are very hard to find, but mostly cosmetic type things. On the plus side, they are just downright cool and the engine pulls strong. 85/86 with modified and properly sprung and damped CBR600F3 shock with Race Tech Emulators and 1.0 springs in front. Handles pretty damn good, I have about a dozen other VF/VFRs to compare it to. Continental ContiGo! tires (bias) work surprisingly good on this bike with the stock wheels. 1986 with YSS shock and 1991 VFR forks with Race Tech Springs. VTR1000F Superhawk/Firestorm wheels front (3.5) and rear (5.5) for modern radials. Handles great. Still very big and very heavy, but a shit load of fun. And looks good doing it. I am definitely the wrong person if you want to be talked out of it.
  23. It looks like the "T-Handle" out of a tool kit to me, judging by the extension and socket next to it for size.
