  1. You bastage! I have to buy a house instead of the 600RR/1098 I wanted... how much did you get it for?

I'm getting it for $4300. It's just a tad outside of my price range, but it does have clear title. The last '07 CBR600 the salvage yard had was $3400, so basicially I'm paying an extra $1000 just for a clear title.

I figure I'll be down $5500 or so once I get it all fixed up and looking nice again. My plan is to put superbike handlebars on my VFR and use it for touring duty. Daily rides up into the mountains and track days will be reserved for the CBR now. :D

  2. Excellent write up. Love the pics. I was out there on saturday and rode the track. It's great, but I'm still not sure of the new turns 4/5. Should be fun once I get it dialed.

Yeah, turn 4 is really tight now. That's going to a be great place to sit and watch the action. I perdict lots of crashes right there.

And for those of you who might be a bit confused. In my blog entry, I use the offical PIR numbering for the turns. But for bike, since they skip the chicane at the front, the turns are numbered differently. So, when I say turn 7 in my blog entry, it's really turn 4 for bikes.

  3. I'm adding a "Back Off" light to my Interceptor, but I can't figure out the taillight wirng scheme. How did you make your connections?

Green is ground. Green/Yellow is brake. Blue/Brown is running light. (At least according to the service manual).

I know for sure green is ground. But if you hook everything up and the brake light bar stays on all the time, then you've got the tail light and brake light wires switched.

    Flaf

People are pissed that you added a cape to the flaf?? WTF? I thought you're idea was incredibly creative and unique. It certainly solved the real estate problem, and I wholeheartedly believe the cape retains the spirit of the flaf.

You can't really say that "this" or "that" is the flaf. The flaf is constantly changing, with each signature and each place that it visits it becomes something more and different. Even it's name reflects it's history perfectly. Originally, it was to be called a flag, but it was misspelled and has since morphed into flaf. Why not then morph a sweatshirt into a super-sweatshirt? It gives the flaf some unique character that not only reflects the uniqueness of VFRD, but the uniqueness of the VFR. :)

  4. Really nice !

That would be something I would really like to have done on my VFR. Definitely good winter project. The wiring overall does not seem hard - or am I wrong?

    Martina

    Thanks!

No, the wiring isn't too hard. You just need to tap into a few wires. The worst part is drilling the holes in the upper fairing so you can run the wire through it.

  5. Hmm, that's a tough one....

Well, you said you weren't strong enough to pick it up by yourself, so you can't feel bad about that. And, if you were scared of trying to get a stranger's help, you can't do much about that either.

Maybe it would have been a good idea to call the cops and let them know about it. They would have been able to pick it up themselves, plus they could have contacted the owner. Of course, I have no idea if the cops in NYC would have done any of that if you called them. You'd know better than I.

Give it a few days and then look back on the situation with a sober point-of-view, without the feelings of guilt and helplessness. Hopefully you'll be able to make more sense of it later.
