  1. Those tiny fans probably have sleeve bearings. Fast spinners but less durability. Just get the fan size and find sone with ball bearings.
  2. I use 35mm film to get funk out. I have one oem set when I bought a binch of spare parts from a guy but I dont k iw how old the kit is. Its been sealed this how time. Of course we dont know how old any of rubber oem parts are.
  3. Im a small guy. Ive never hated the stock ride. Plus I wouldnt know what to change.
  4. Its the forks. You got to be kidding me. They're not that old. Even the covers are cracked. Winters around the corner, my garage isnt finished, and everyone around here charges a butt load to changed the seals even if you bring them in yourself. I think I used All Balls seals. I did it myself last time and the only help I need was getting the seal pressed in all the way. The PVC trick didnt work. Even the moto mechanic said they were a tad hard getting to seat.
  5. I replaced the fork seals a couple years ago and they dont have that many miles. When the origunals went, the fork oil was just on the smooth tube and a tiny streak down the rough tube. I dont see how it could have sprayed all over the brake line area. Plus the bike has been sitting in the same spot for over a month with the spot on the concrete getting bigger.
  6. "I dont get it." Thanks for the chuckle. I never said I prefered aprilia. I just prefer things not being recycled for so many years.
  7. I'm thinking it's brake fluid. It was all over left tube and all over that brake metal block where multiple brake lines join that's bolted right above the left front caliper. A nice big black puddle on the concrete and that metal block was soaked. Can't tell if it goes any higher than that. I did notice my font brakes seemed a bit "wooden" but just thought it was the pads being old and glazed. How hard is it to change out the two rubber lines that meet at that block? I know refilling the lines and getting the air out can be a pita.
  8. Didn't even know this existed but Honda lost me at "recycled" engine. May be interested if I can swapped a 5th gen engine in or Aprilia's 1000cc V4. Just a little bit more. http://www.apriliausa.com/motorcycles/rsv4-r-aprc-abs.html
  9. I just go with 1" play.
  10. Every vid I watch just shows people pushing the chain up but the FSM says a line below and above the chain. So is it up & down movement or just up? Double arm bikes have more room between the chain and arm but it seems like on our single arm, the chain a a lot closer.
  11. Here's my vids. Something may help you. https://www.youtube.com/user/Rangerscott69/videos
  12. The advantage of turning the fan off is so the stupid thing isn't fighting against the air flow when you're at highway speeds and just keeps the engine from cooling down. Stupid that they didnt tie the fan into the speed sensor. I've had to pull off the highway several times to let the fan finally turn off so the engine could get back to normal temps.

I love using my bike as a transporter. I strapped down a milk crate to go a 100 miles to get a transfer case for my vehicle. Just glad it didn't leak gear oil all over my bike.
  14. Im ok on a plastic tank cover. Beats having a fist size dent in your metal tank. Now we pics of the engine mounting and compare it to the Aprilia V4.
  15. Vtec engine. I'm out. It's not needed and just more crap to deal with when working on the enigne.
  16. Its been done on here.
  17. Its just a rod that goes to the other side of the engine. I pull it out and put a thin coat of grease on it.
  18. Around 44 mpg on the highway. Depends on the wind and if the luggage is on/off.
  19. So who's gonna transplant the 1200 in their 5th/6th?
  20. I under stand that but the point is the last time I changed it, there was no crap in it and who knows how many years old that stuff was because it was years after I bought the bike. Ebay had some stainless steel lines for a good price but I'm not finding them any more. Hmmm.
  21. Im really just trying to figure out the cause of the sludge. Also, what speedbleeder # is it for the slave cylinder?
  22. I'd really like to go with a clip chain just so I can take the chain off and be able to clean it without getting crap all over my bike.
  23. It's #9. We get a discount here. Call them and ask for Keith. I don't even think I paid for shipping last time. http://www.masoncityhonda.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=2506942&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=2001&fveh=132095
  24. My clutch lever had been a bit finicky for awhile and finally one morning I threw the bike in gear and she wanted to take off with the clutch lever held. Pulled the slave cylinder and it was leaking around the piston. Kinda rusty looking. I replaced the fluid 2-3 years ago and I think I used Vavoline Syn Power. All it says on the bottle is it exceeds dot 3 & 4. I know the FSM says to use Dot 4. I guess I didn't do a good job cleaning out the old fluid and this stuff mixed with it and finally blew through the seals? I got the replacement parts for the slave, but should I get a new master piston set (#3 on fiche)? Even if I should get a new master piston, I want to get this back together since I haven't ridden her for what feels like 2 months. The spiders are taking over. What fluid would you guys recommend. Just plain old Dot 4 of any brand? I don't see this on the fiche but is there any way to replace the window? Mine is faded and cracked from sun damage. This is when I first pulled the slave. Today while pulling everything and cleaning.
