  1. I can’t help with this as I don’t have a VFR 1200 (unfortunately) however I just googled service manuals for this bike and currently there is a free one online at www.moto4ru I would copy this fairly quickly as they sometimes get taken down pretty quickly. The manual will answer your question no doubt. Congrats on the new bike.
  2. Hi Mikus11, just saw your post, how did you go with this? I have the same sliders on my eighth gen. I believe the nut is captive, sounds like as Wiremanjon suggested it’s the spacer that’s has fallen down. Hope you got this all sorted.
  3. I feel your pain Dutchy. It’s great you thought to take a photo, I just wanted to stand her up again, like that was somehow miraculously going to lessen the damage. A photo is always good for the insurance company too.
  4. Well better late than never, sorry for the long delay. I have finally got a few days off so I will attempt to finish this ride report. Day 3 was spent riding around the Atherton tablelands. This area is fairly elevated and as a result is always a bit cooler than the coast, so it makes for a very pleasant days riding. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos this day, but to to give you an idea of the country I have attached a few photos from the net (yes I know that's cheating) This is Lake Eacham, one of two very picturesque lakes located very close together, the other being Lake Barrine.
  5. Agree with what HispanicSlammer said. My eighth gen felt the same when I first rode it, increased the rebound damping by 1 full turn and it felt like a different bike. Have a play with the rebound setting you can always reverse the adjustment if you don’t like it.
  6. I wasn’t expecting such a response to my very trivial question, I have never had a PBJ sandwich guess I will have to give it a try.
  7. Thanks everyone for clearing that up. I had heard it was like jam but couldn’t imagine putting it on bacon and eggs. It’s all down to what you grow up with I guess. I will have to give it a try. Sorry to disagree St Stephen but I like nothing better than lots of fried (red) tomatoes with my bacon and eggs, heaven!
  8. Bit of a trivial question here for our American contributors, but I often here in movies or read in books people ordering a breakfast in America of say bacon, eggs, hash brown and Jelly? What is jelly in this context? Is there one type or several. Here in Australia jelly is a sweet you eat with ice cream. Puzzled 😕
  9. Not sure what you mean by rough on the surface, they are very smooth. They are Genuine Triumph saddlebags, they are not hard saddlebags so the shape is not totally even, but this is not a fault, just a characteristic of this type of saddlebags.
  10. DAY 2. Malanda to Cape Tribulation and Return. . After a slow start to the day, we headed down the Gillies once again. Turned North at Gordonvale and rode through Cairns heading towards Port Douglas. We stopped at Ellis Beach just North of Palm Cove for brunch. Very nice bar and grill here with views out over the Coral Sea (not the greatest Photo sorry) Next stop was the Rex lookout about halfway between Cairns and Mossman. I came close to getting run over while taking this photo, what I thought was the exit lane from the parking was actually the highway, I
  11. Hi Philois1984, Thank you for your donation of 25.00 USD. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
  12. Townsville is full of long straight roads, hence the cruiser. But don’t worry I am still keeping the VFR for the twisty stuff further afield. Married 34 years on 06/10/20 very special (tolerant) lady.
  13. Had breakfast there with my wife this morning Grum, a bit too late for the sunrise though. It certainly is a beautiful spot. Will try for the silhouette shot next time. Did you see my new ride Grum?
  14. Well this is what happens when you spend too much time on bikesales.com, you end up buying things!! I have wanted a second bike for a little while, decided I wanted something a bit different from the VFR. Ended up buying this after riding my brother in laws Triumph America. About to head away for our wedding anniversary, in the car though or it will be our divorce weekend. Will post more info when I return. Enjoying it so far, have only done about 100km on it. I keep scraping the foot boards, a VFR it ain’t.
  15. Great looking bike Vinnier, love the decals. Not overdone looks great. Enjoy the ride.
  16. As some of you may recall, I had planned a motorbike trip from Townsville to S.E. Queensland back in July. I still haven't gotten around to doing a ride report, too busy transporting all the goods everyone is buying on the internet during this bloody Covid outbreak (I am happy to have a job though!!). This will probably be done in one day at a time but I will try to be prompt with further installments. I am no Wilbur Smith so don't expect too much. My mate Andrew and I were going take a couple of weeks off to ride to the Gold Coast to go riding with my brother-in-law Grant. Unfortu
  17. That is a fantastic looking bike mate, very envious. I’m sure if you do decide to part with it you will have plenty of takers. Thanks for posting the photos.
  18. I only have 34,000km on my eighth gen so still a long way to go to hit 160,000km. I am more worried about me lasting the distance than any concern with the VFR. Enjoyed your write up TimC congratulations. Interested to see what your new machine is going to be ?
  19. Something to calm my nerves while I watch the Styrian GP tonight 😃
  20. Dave Moss (Two Clicks Out) also has a good video on this subject.
  21. Looking good dangeruss, love the black with the yellow decals. Hope you enjoy the ride. What is your reaction to the V4 engine?
  22. That’s certainly an epic trip and an epic ride report. Great effort. On my lunch break at the moment so haven’t the time to read it all, but will get back to it. Glad you are home safe.
  23. Watching WSBK live on Kayo, looking forward to race 1 should be a good race, plenty of riders in contention. Being a Honda fan boy I have my fingers crossed for Haslam and Bautista (maybe a podium finish 🤞)
