Had an inopportune flat on the rear Saturday near Liepers Fork-not my idea of a fun Saturday but it did force me to mount my newly powdercoated OG wheels. Got them in a hammered black. Like the look but not sure how they'll look after several sets of tires are removed/mounted. Worried the finish won't be as durable as regular paint.

Gen 5 Fairings/blinker needed after Crash.

I had an unfortunate tip over while parked on a slope several months ago and had to order a right OEM front turn signal. Unfortunately when I checked that site they had no R front turn signal covers. This international site, however did. https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/vfr_800_fi-1/01 If you can't find one I have a slightly scratched one that is in pretty good shape. It could be buffed out and no one would know it had been scratched. -

Thank you for the many years you kept this valuable site active and engaging. I will miss it tremendously, as I rely on the vast knowledge and experience found here to keep my '98 running and looking good. I want to thank every member here who has given me advice and shared their knowledge. I guess we could all migrate over to the "other VFR site". I'm a member there but never visit anymore...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... -

Service from authorized dealers on older bikes
interceptor69 replied to Noles's topic in Eighth Generation VFR's
The biggest Honda dealership here in Nashville informed me they could no longer remove or mount my wheels due to the bike's age ('98). So I bought Pitbull stands and do it myself. They will mount the tires and balance them but that's it. They do work on my '98 though. I've had them do maintenance on it in the past 2-3 years but not sure if there are certain maintenance issues they won't tackle. -

I have a '98 and before I changed to an aftermarket pipe the strong unburned gas smell was minimal but there-but once I installed the new headers it became even stronger. Like you I really notice it at a stoplight. I know those behind me wish I had a catalytic converter on it! The strong odor was there no matter if I was using a PC II or PCIII USB, no matter the map I tried. I don't get particularly good gas mileage but don't ride in such a way that I expect that so I just accept that it's a gas hog and go about my business. I hope you get yours sorted out-it is a beauty, as are all red ones!😉

Was looking around for an 8th Gen VFR and stumbled across this (guy lives near me). A well cared-for example if ever there was one. What would I do with 2 - 5th gen VFR's?? https://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/d/smyrna-1999-honda-vfr800-low-mileage/7608702871.html

As an aside I guess I didn't realize the starter valves had anything to do with normal running. I thought they only affected start up. Mine have never been checked/adjusted since 1998.

Should be able to get an 8th gen for a decent price...may need to peruse the classifides.

I've only ever ridden the '98 VFR. Would like to see how different that model is. Have you ridden both 5th gen and this gen? Btw it's a beaut! Love the wheels on this gen.

interceptor69 replied to interceptor69's question in Modification Questions
Thanks for taking the time to photograph them. I believe you're correct-there's no way to stretch the '98/'99 ones to fit. I guess I'll order a pair today. Where do you order most of your parts from? I've been using RevZilla. And Partzilla lately. They seem to have better stock of VFR parts. -
Need Help With Replacement Mirror Bolts
interceptor69 replied to interceptor69's question in Modification Questions
The only reason I asked is i noticed the '98 gasket does not fit flush around the flange of the bracket-I would have to try to stretch it around the raised edge. Thanks for all the help. I like these mirrors and am eager to get them on. Riding season is just around the corner here In Nashville. Yes-the black painted bolts look great. I will try to source them from the local hardware shop. -

How different are the '98 and '00 rubber gaskets in shape? They appear different but not terribly.
