  1. Ah, excellent. Thanks for that info!
  2. I am looking for a spot to put a USB charger on the bike and I found a spot that looks like it may be perfect and I wouldn't have to cut anything. It's on part #64544-MGE-000 and it's on the inside left front cowl. There are two holes and for the life of me I cannot figure out what purpose they serve. I just want to make sure that if I can mount somehting there that I won't be covering something that I shouldn't be. Here is a picture of the fairing: I tried getting a picture from my bike, but it keeps coming out blurry. If you are seated on the bike, look down the front cowl on the left fork tube side. The holes are clearly visible there. So what say you guys, safe spot for a USB charger?

Shit, even better! My girls are only 10 & 13 and they are showing zero interest as well. Well, except for washing the bike (which is kind cool.)

Lucky man, wish my wife was the least bit interested in motorcycles.
  5. lol, this is a man that knows not only how to tour; but more importantly, where to tour!
  6. Only because I didn't see it mentioned... if you are going to be doing any long riding days or full blown touring, get some compression undergarments with wicking material. That coupled with some Anti-Monkey Butt powder will increase your comfort level by a wide margin! http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Monkey-Powder-Anti-Friction-Sweat-Absorber/dp/B0006B08O6
  7. Ha! Found it. The reason I couldn't find it earlier is because it wasn't a VFR. Could have swore it showed a red 5th gen though:
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhYnAeKiTq4 Ha! That's almost as good. It was still funny even though I had no idea what they were saying.
  9. I've never liked the sound of a dry clutch, there was a video posted once of a dry clutch modification to a VFR800 that I always liked though. It started with the bike idling and hearing that distinct rattle. As the camera panned back you saw a guy shaking a tambourine! I thought it was the perfect description. I cannot find the video, so if anyone knows what I am talking about and can find it, post it up please!
  10. Sounds like you need to post that on Craigslist in the "Missed Encounters" section.
  11. Man.. from your pictures the seams and general fit looks a heck of a lot better than my old 5th gen with OEM fairings bought off ebay. Do you think if you had done this in the heat of summer it would have made any difference with the assembly? As for the holes needing bored out, that's an annoyance sure, but at least they weren't too big instead! All in all, sounds like it's worth the money.
  12. I would have seriously considered a DCT version if there was one around in a 2 hour radius when I was looking. The more I read about it and peoples experiences with it, the more I am wishing I had tried harder to find one to test ride.
  13. yeah, mine is nowhere near that easy to put back on.
  14. Taking it off or putting it on, it's always a battle. The first time I took it off and tried putting back on was at the dealership where I bought it. Nothing like looking like an idiot when trying to look smart during negotiations!
  15. It was at the Honda tent at the MotoGP race in Indy this year.
  16. That's the first I have ever heard of that happening. Be interested to see if anyone else has had that problem. 8800 miles on mine and no issues.
  17. I'm a big believe in what goes around, comes around. I have always been completely honest when selling my old bikes. And I always throw in something extra that I may have forgot to mention in the ad. Plus I have stayed in contact with the buyers for almost a year after the purchase to answer any questions they had. That being said, I do agree with Mohawk on the latter part of his statement. Always expect the worse of people. That way you will never be disappointed.
  18. Woah... how in the world did I ever miss this thread?! Can't wait to see more.
  19. Being a tightwad myself, I understand why you are going the route you are. But in all honesty, I think I would have splurged for the entire fairing kit to ensure the best possible color match. Then sell the OEM to help recoup the cost. Either way, hope this turns out well for you and I will be following this thread!
  20. Seriously SC, you need to email me the full resolution version of this picture. Stunning!
  21. I never noticed the 8th gen had those. For some reason I was assuming it had the same or similar system as the 8th gen with zero fairing bolts and clips. On my 5th gen, I just bought a huge bag of them like the guys above mentioned. I believe that Veefer was the one that clued me in on the zipties under the bike too. So much better that way!
  22. Damn, that yellow 5th gen is purty! That's the one I would get out of the ones you are asking about.
  23. After ABS, this is what would sway me. If it has an aftermarket full exhaust, that means that it no longer has a cat and is also lighter. I could be wrong, but I believe the bike should also have been tuned after swapping the headers. It may have a power commander or the like. Swapping out headers is a pain in the ass, be glad someone did the work for you!
  24. When did Timmy get a 7th gen?!
