  1. Obligatory Dutch biking pic from yesterday's ride: So, "two or three weeks" turned into a few more, and then when I finally got back to London I was too busy to touch the (motor)bike. Typical! From the previous post in this thread, it appears that I will need to press the steering stem back into the triple clamp and sort out the steering stops. Drilling the clamp would be easier without the stem in place, but I can't locate the holes correctly without it. But, I do have my own press, so in the stem will go, and commence the measuring I will. If I can't drill the holes with the stem in place, out again it will come! (An hour, tops?) Beyond getting the forks in place, it occurs to me that I might need to order or make brake lines. Grrr. (I hate making brake lines. Stainless steel hates me!) I'll see what I've got in boxes that might work--I'm sure I've got something that will work, if only temporarily. Alternatively, I may have some bulk, clear-coated -3 line, but the question is always re the stainless steel hose ends, which I generally only buy with specific projects in mind. I'd really like to avoid having to measure and then wait for the hoses/hose ends to be delivered, but we'll see... Ciao, JZH

  2. "Gaslight" directed by George Cukor in 1944 and starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer. Basically the bad guy husband in the 1880's in London tries to drive his wife crazy, including turning down the gaslights and then pretending nothing was wrong. Not a bad film for its era. I'm pretty sure this key bit of information will solve your rear shock issue immediately! 😎

  3. The spare wires look like the clutch switch wire, and I see that you don't have the original clutch master so that would be why. The clutch switch is usually needed if you want to start the bike in gear.

  4. My garage getting more and more organized, and it's time to start to work on the other bike's aside the VFR. The FJ needs fork seal change as new diagrams in the carburetors, I have the parts needed. Then the suspension linkage needs also needs some love as it sounds dry. Would love a standard screen instead of the spoiler one that just makes turbolance. The CBR600 would like a carburetor clean even you could ride it as it is. I do have been thinking of maybe reducing the bike account..... Mainly as I don't need 4 bikes ( 5 if you count my KDX200 dirt bike that isn't road legal), yes I like bikes and could have a few sport bikes just to look at but mainly like to have bikes I can ride also. But first all need to be in good riding stat to get best price. Mainly thinking of selling 2 and keep 2 and for the money of the 2sold buy a bike for gravel roads as well, a adventure like bike......

  5. Hey Dutchy, your long thread was the reason I bought the 86, there is a front rocker box leak, so I will be having a look inside, the previous owners husband is a motorcycle mechanic and she said he checked the valves last year and adjusted one out of 16, she rode it once since then. I’ve used the bt45’s and liked them but the centers wore out very fast squaring up the profile. I really like the look of the Pirelli sport demons and I liked the phantoms that preceded them but I have just recently heard of them.

  6. SOLD Another goodie from sfdownhill's stash. An unknown manufacturer high mount exhaust. It has 2 hangers one near the end of the can and one near the front of the can where it meets the link pipe. My memory is rusty, but I thought this was a Two Brothers exhaust that he replaced the carbon fiber can when he repacked the unit. I'm not 100% on that but it's a pretty nice kit, tempted to keep it for myself. Anyway, asking $250 plus shipping from Anaheim, California. NOTE: Found out from someone who use to sell Micron exhaust systems said this is a Micron. I'll take his word on it but either way, this is a really nice kit.
