Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted June 26, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted June 26, 2015 I have a quick shifter on my Triumph Daytona 675 track bike and love it. When Honda announced the 2014 Interceptor, one of the accessories that they introduced was a quick shift kit. Has anyone tried to modify one to work on the Gen 6 VFRs? http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/2014-honda-interceptor-review-first-ride.html/attachment/060614-2014-honda-interceptor-vfr800r-quickshifter
timm
The QS-addon for the 8th gen is basically just a switch that closes when you push the gear lever upwards. It connects to a connector behind upper front left cowl. Even if you modify it to fit mechanically on a 6th gen you need to mod or do something in the electronics that cuts the ignition/fuel or whatever for a short time when the switch closes. This is already programmed in the 8th gen ECU. I have hard to believe that is a finished option on the 6th gen. A Powercommander might be an idea? http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/products/quickshifter/powercommander_quick_shifter.aspx
CandyRedRC46
First step, buy sato rear sets. Second step, buy one of a million quick shifter options out there: Translogic Annitori Rapid bike Bazzaz Power commander Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted August 6, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 6, 2015 Heal Tech is now offering a shift kit for 5th gen and 6th gen models. Motorcycle.com has good things to say about their QS system. I am going to wait until winter and hopefully they will also be supported by iOS. Right now its Android only. http://www.bluemonkeymotorsports.com/qse/ http://www.motorcycle.com/features/best-motorcycle-product-of-2015.html A GDC VFR screaming towards redline with full throttle upshifts... CandyRedRC46
so you already have sato rear sets, or?
Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted August 19, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 19, 2015 I have re-thought this and would put the QS on my Gen 5.5 rather than my Gen 6. I use my Gen 6 mostly for sport touring and actually lowered the pegs. I would not want to go with rearsets on mine. Sato only makes them for the VTEC 6th Gens '02-'09 from what I can see on the various websites that sell them. I would personally not like to have to replace the rearsets, I am sure that I can make something work for the linkage to get a QS on my 5.5. Member Contributer Mohawk Posted August 19, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted August 19, 2015 I have one I made my self from a hall effect sensor, via the Rapid bike, works great except under full load as there is no movement in the gear lever. So I'm converting a spare lever to the toggle type so will have a small degree of movement under full load to allow QS activation to complete a shift :)

keef
can you wire them through the side stand cutout switch? as in, when it detects pressure on the lever, it sends the signal to the side stand cutout switch to temporarily cut the ignition? yes, you'd no longer have a functioning side stand switch, but, ya know, quickshifter.
