v4vfrgixxer750
hi guys im new to this site :) been told to come over and share my lil project i have on the go by sebspeed on a different forum im on this is my bike ive been working on since christmas, i know some people are gonna flame me for what ive done but its my bike and now completely unique to anyone else :D so im REAL happy with it so far. if anyone has any questions ask away and i'll try and help out fellow v4'ers wherever i can LET ME BRING YOU UP TO SPEED wasnt actually planning on fightering this lil bargain but an unwated mating experience with a 4x4 has meant this bike is getting a winter makeover :D bought it as a work hack off of ebay for next to nothing as it need downpipes and putting back together. The idiot who listed it called it a 1996 honda blue?? lol luckily i saw it went and had a look the day he put it on the as he said it all worked and was all there, an he only wanted £250 to end early. went and checked it over all looked fine couldnt hear it running so i took a punt and said £180 and miraculously he said YES!! :party-smiley: here it is as i got it after i put all the clothes back on and after mating with the back of a 4x4 was gonna put it back to normal but then i thought screw it im gonna do a project i can complete :fu: compulsory date pics took all the broken sh*t off of the front, and dismantled my other project for parts :D got a 98 r1 front end with 94 gsxr750 triples and clip ons, k1 gsxr1000 subframe and seat unit with a 05 zx6r underseat exhaust. undecided on wat to do with the front yet but it is going to be a front fairing off a sportbike modified to tie it all together, but too many choices

mcrwt644
Was the triple etc a straight bolt on? Pics of any sort of mods needed to be made. That may be a moot point as I found an entire front end off an f4i for $250 usd. Wheel, rotors, tire, calipers, forks, upper and lower triples and possibly the master cylinder too....... v4vfrgixxer750
got a big update for u peeps today :D the link pipe i made fitted a treat and i reckon it looks really neat, still gotta clean it up and make it all look satin finish :) heres a pic to show the seating position, its very on my wrists which isnt a good thing after a previous BIIIIIIG wreck i had but im sure it will get stronger (hoping) heres how the beastie sits as of now, managed to get the front fairing on there but its only temporary till i can fit it where i want (gotta sit further back and tilt up a tiny bit) no the front wheel doesnt hit the fairing lol tested and ridden it already :LolLolLolLol: a shot from the front and a kind of side on shot  last thing for you guys and hopefully the best bit like i said i managed to get a ride on it today :D and a nice fly past clip for ya (remember to turn those speakers up :D) hope yall like it and hopefully i'll get some comments lol will post up how i did the fork swap tomo for anyone interested
v4vfrgixxer750
after all that was done finally got rid of the ugly plastic overflow bottle for an awesome mister big swig :D made up a bracket and got it fitted neatens it up a treat! got my headlight and fairing in the right position by cutting up and welding the fairing brace and also modified the seat unit to hug the tank got the seat unit front lengthened and started the fillering bought a tl1000r seat cut it up and recovered it (myself)
mcrwt644
coming along nicely. I like what I see. Are you going to let us in on how you extended the rear fairing to meet up with the tank? I'm presuming you canibalized the vfr rear fairings in part.
monkeyspanner
i like what i see, nice work on the pipes and seat alteration. wish i had access to a welder to make some pipes for myself. will be watching this post to see the final result. Nice work and about time a Brit got in on the action of mods. Good luck
v4vfrgixxer750
hi guys thanks for the comments and the compliments as for the rear fairing it was a pain in the a$$ but well worth it, yes i had to cut the end off of the vfr fairings to hug the tank. i could of made a mould and done it that way but i couldnt be bothered! lol its coming along nice a bit more filler and some 3m sticky pads and it will be done. had to plasyic weld the cut up bits onto it after trying to make them symetrical lol. as for the pipes that was another total pain with one person! welder was at where i worked so i had to try and hold it in place, mark it up and take it to work to weld it, worst bit was knowing if it was slightly out then it would not of fitted lol but thank god it came together good! just needs prettying up :) the seat was pretty easy just kept cutting lil bits off and kept trialling the fit till it was near perfect then some nice ebay vinyl and a cheap b&q staple gun and voila! ya we definately need more brits doing this sh** to their bike but then mine wont be so unique lol soo maybe not to many! heres the next instalment guys ENJOY! "went for a speedfighter approach so took a dive and bought the side panels, suprisingly easy to get them fitted! next to my other toy! :D but with this came a different problem entirely :( the rear wheel looked soooooooo smal and out of place............ so conquered this by doing my homework :) a couple of ebay purchases later! and i was half way there lol " more to follow tomo guys let me know what you think, gotta be more people on this vfr forum with some opinions!! lol till tomorrow.................... HAPPY READING :)
monkeyspanner
Few questions for you. But first, I like what you have done with the gixxer fairing. How is the clearance? Where are you mounting the rear lights for it to be A; legal and B; pass an MOT? Will lights affect the new wheel (size wise) depending on position? and what about the potential for the new wheel and rubber to hit the under-seat pipes? Body work are you going to fab a piece to fit the gap from the rear sub-frame to the current seat fairing?
v4vfrgixxer750
hi, thankyou what clearance do you mean sorry? the rear lights are already in place would you believe lol. I've drilled holes in the tip of the gixxer fairing and pushed through some red led's :-) I'll get a picture tomo for you. the new wheel is in place already and theres about an inch between tire and link pipe so its just right. only has a 180 tire at mo but will run a 190 next. sorry im a bit confused about what you mean with the rear fairing Dan
smackdoogle
Wow, great job. You are really showing off your skills. The part I'm most impressed about is how you Have Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha all working together well on one bike. With the new rear wheel and hub (Ducati?) that'll make 4 manufacturers on one bike. Nice job. Find something Kawasaki to throw on it and you'll have the big four covered!
v4vfrgixxer750
thanks smackdoogle. really makes all the hard work and hours worth it now im starting to see it all come together :-) an it means alot all the compliments as I've done it all myself with basic tools and no real training or experience. funny you should say that as the exhaust is a 05 kwak zx6r exhaust lol and the rear wheel assembly is triumph parts from a Dayton t595. so I've got Honda suzuki yamaha kawasaki and triumph so far :-P im thinkin of calling it a Bitsa-ViXXer when its done and painted :-)

mcrwt644
... i can only see like 10% of the pics!!! go do a windows update and probably, you will need to update your version of Java. Oracle.com I believe. If it's linux, you will have to find an rpm to download and untar....sorry, back to the bike.

Guest
Looks awesome! Love following your progress..i love the way it looked with fighter belly pan and no side fairings. I think that way,it,was a beautiful mix of sport bike and streetfighter...but my opinion is biased because i love streetfighters. Keep up the great work and originality!
