First off: I apologize if you were hoping to see a coast to coast road trip report here. My VFR got new shoes yesterday, and I took it out for a spin today. It was a rather short, 330 miles round trip from SD. I managed to snap a few pics to share Joshua Tree National Park Califirnia

Great day at the park.

The main attraction- Joshua tree, and ofcourse the VFR smile.gif

On my way back, it was windy like hell, the windmills make a good pic, but wind sucks!

The premium gas at Joshua was almost $4 ... ouch!

Sweeeet shots!

Thanks for posting / sharing them.

So what was your route?

Did you do many miles on hwy 395?

What kind of shape was it in?

There was a bit of construction when i did it last.

I live in SD, so I do not need to take the 395. I took I15, I215, CA60, I10, and CA62. Did some riding within the national park, and came back to SD the same way. I love the roads inside the park. A couple years back they were repairing the roads, now it is in great shape.

You should get a dualsport bike, then. Check this tour out (hope you don't mind the thread hijack!  B) )

Maybe a dualsport as a second bike, for a camping trip should be fun. I cannot think of replacing my VFR and lose the comfort on asphalted roads.

Actually, I meant I like the asphalted roads inside the park :D Threre is ample space to pull out at all the picture spots. Even though there is loose gravel all around the park, the roads are free from gravel.

A couple years back me and my wife rented quads, and did some off roading near Joshua. It was a lot of fun.

It looks like an awesome place to ride regardless of bike!

My brother spent a week in Death Valley a few years back and said it looked great for dirtbiking. He was there with Australian army regiment 6RAR doing exercises with US army.
